Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesA pool or hottub would have been a nice feature. The little upstairs pub needed some extra employees to keep things cleaner and order lines moving better.
Location and nostalgia! Beautiful older hotel on the beach and beach walkway - room size snug for two. Don't expect a brand new room. Perfect for a night's stay or two at most. Easy walk to local higher-end restaurants too and free parking during the week. The employees were exceptionally nice and the complimentary breakfast was a fab surprise with fresh fruits.

United StatesThe hotel is historic so it smelled like it. An old musty smell. The front desk didn't smile or welcome us.
This hotel is so incredibly beautiful! It's small, like a bed and breakfast vibe. Our room was similar to a small apartment. Steps from the ocean.

United StatesA microwave would be nice. The hotel is old, but has such great charm.
This place has so much charm. Such history there. The bed was super comfy. Great breakfast every day. Beautiful views. Right on the beach, so convenient. Not a great selection of restaurants nearby. The bathroom was decent sized, but needs something in the shower to set things.

United StatesI wouldn't say I didn't like, but our room was small but that was ok, there was only 2 of us. The hotel is a little outdated but that's part of the charm.
Awesome location, nice bar and food menu at the hotel. plenty of restaurants and bars around in walking distance. Free breakfast. Steps away from the beach.

United StatesGood news, hotel upgraded us on the day of arrival. Bad news- upon check-in, I specifically asked to CONFIRM it had a 2nd bed (ie sofa pull-out), as we had paid MORE for a 2nd bed. I was advised, YES, it had a sofa bed. Upon arriving at the room, sadly, the sofa was NOT a pull out. I returned to the front desk and advised error. After a period of time, they provided a small twin roll-away bed, I had to set it up myself and learned, several of the bed legs were broken, so I returned to the receptionist yet again. a 2nd small rollaway bed was eventually brought down and I had to set it up and make up the bed. Sad. Disappointing. As accommodations/bedding is a hotel's #1 responsibility, none of this is acceptable. They also had a band playing that night for prospective wedding customers, and it was VERY loud, as it was right next to our room (likely the reason we got 'upgraded', b/c the prior customers didn't want to hear loud music). We demonstrated great patience with the loud music (we were advised a band would be playing at checking in and no other rooms were available) and with the 3 errors re bedding (sofa was a sleeper and 1st rollaway was broken and I had to set up and make the 2nd rollaway)
The 100 year old Casa Marina property has a lot of character, in a good way. We were deciding between Margaritaville Hotel or Casa Marina, and we are VERY glad we choose Casa Marina. I had wanted to stay at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville for years and was actually booked there. When I later learned they charged a whopping fee for parking, I researched other options and immediately decided on Casa Marina, instead. Great decision. The breakfast at Casa Marina was VERY good.

United StatesWe were told there was going to be a wedding upon check in. We just were unaware that the music would be right down below our room, you could not hear the TV. It ended promptly at 11, but was just loud for a few hours.
Access to the beach right out through the back of the building. The set up of the room and the eclectic vintage furniture was very interesting.. The view of the beach from our room, and being able to hear the ocean. A hot breakfast was available from 6 to 10 am.

I loved the location right on the beach. I could see the ocean from my room window. I loved the staff, they were so helpful and willing to go the extra mile and make any necessary accommodations. I really enjoyed my stay and will be making it my permanent home when I visit Jacksonville Beach.

United Stateswater pressure was pretty non -existent but not sure much could be done with that since the building is older. Also didn't have a rinse off station coming from the beach (we used the nearby public rinse off which was OK but it would been nice to have one right at the property)
Hotel from another time- beautiful old hotel (staff informed us that it will be 100 next year!). Beach front with stunning view from our room (201). Very quaint details, high ceilings, roomy interiors. Included breakfast was a good mix of the usual suspects. Front desk staff was friendly.
