How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

We have stayed at the commander hotel a couple times, so we booked the beach house for the kitchen. The kitchen amenities were okay, but the oven barely worked i was afraid to eat what took an hour to cook. The room is much smaller than the pictures make it look and it was kind of dirty. The floors were sticky and dandy. I understand it's tough around the beach, but I'd expect the rooms to be clean the first day at least. There is a dresser that is not attached to the wall, which made me nervous with kids around the room. The TV also only has a handful or working channels. I know the hotel had the basic cable, so the kids could watch Disney or nickelodeon, but the beach house did not.

No curtain on bathroom window
The 2 bedrooms and kitchen with all amenities was a big plus. Also having 3 tv’s was nice.

It would have been nice to know we had to go to a different building to make use of the amenities. I feel like the resort fee shouldn't apply to the annex buildings because you really get nothing more than a motel vibe from them. The rooms are small, the bed was too firm, and we didn't get to use the pool because we would have to cross the highway to do so.
It was a pretty close walk to the boardwalk, which was nice. And the room was fairly clean.

You could hear everything through the walls. It was a problem overnight when we were trying to sleep. Intoxicated people were very loud.
Location was great! Staff was very friendly! It was a small but very clean room.

We stayed in the commander beach house and we were unaware that the 3brd is on very top of hotel with no handicap accessible
I enjoyed how sweet the staff was and how quickly they helped get everything needed for us.

No coffee in our building and no air circulation in the room air conditioner worked but I had to clean out the filler on the air conditioner

It was not very clean. There were someone else’s dirty towels left in the room and other people’s personal items left under the couch. It also didn’t look like the moved any furniture or anything when cleaning and the floors were very dirty.
Location was great! Just about a block away from beach and boardwalk. Super comfy and big for the price. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

The air conditioner was very loud, and the beds were uncomfortable. Better ventilation in the bathrooms would help.
Proximity to beach, boardwalk, attractions. Simple rooms to lay your head. Indoor and outdoor pool were nice.

Kind of small but we don’t spend a lot of time in room so no biggie. We also put room service tag out but only came once and we came back when they were there so instead of finishing they left.
We loved the location. And the bedrooms were nice and dark made for a good nights sleep.

Ok what I didn't like was the fact I could here everyone from my room. I could here the kids playing Xbox down the hall, I could here the guy above using his bathroom (we will leave it at that) when the door leading outside shut it slammed shut and everything in the room shook a little. But in all honesty these are very minor things in what was a great stay.
Location was great, nice and clean, EXCELLENT STAFF!!!!! That alone makes the trip. Everyone from the front desk to housekeeping was amazing!!! Smiles, attentiveness, the fact that I was unprepared for check in and it did not even phase the staff they made it painless and pleasant. THANK YOU
