The view and atmosphere were wonderful.

The shower was dirty and had pink algae growing in it. Dust bunnies ran rampant.

Good location on the Columbia river.

No AC. Weather in Astoria was hot. Our room was hot. I like a firm mattress. The one in the room was the opposite. I would have stayed in a chain hotel had I known these things about Bowline.

The staff were very friendly, and the food was delicious. We really enjoyed the saunas. The beds were very comfortable, close to everything.

The room was spacious with a large balcony. The indoor fireplace made it cozy and the upscale nautical theme was well done. Location is perfect for walking to most attractions and restaurants. We didn’t use the saunas but it’s an extra that many might love. Valet parking is affordable and the welcome glass of champagne was a nice touch. The salmon chowder at the hotel restaurant was outstanding.

The only downsides to the room we had were stains on the carpet in one area and a sketchy shower head. However, we were awakened by very loud noises ( think t-Rex stomping) which shook the room and lasted about an hour. We were told in the morning that passing ships cause the pylons to bang into the building. It was disconcerting and impossible to sleep through.

The building is literally built on a pier over the water. We had a perfect view of the Columbia River. The in-house cafe was convenient and good.

Unless you paid extra for the valet parking finding a nearby on street parking place sometimes proved problematic.

Very innovative concept hotel. Well located with many shops and restaurants within walking distance. Clean and functional room.

    Very soft mattress.

Being that close to the enormous and powerful Columbia River was a magical experience… the Bowline’s simple and contemporary design of the converted cannery structure allows you to focus on the main event (the river and all its ship traffic) whether from your own riverfront room, the Knot Bar and hotel lobby or their spacious outdoor deck areas. The hotel in general and our River View King room actually exceeded my expectations and were nicer in person than in pictures. For one, both the property and our room were spotlessly clean. The staff was warm and friendly (without being obsequious) and greeted us with a welcome glass of Prosecco at check in. Arrival and offloading luggage was convenient with several short term parking spaces available right at the front door. We found free overnight street parking less than one block away. No sea lions were in attendance that night and our room midway down the ground floor hallway was very quiet. The mattress was apparently some type of memory foam and was a new experience for us but it still had adequate back support and we slept well. In-room pour over coffee and tea service was appreciated but the barista in the lobby bar made the best latte I had on our entire trip.

Most of the menu items were unavailable the evening we arrived and so we settled for some focaccia which was very thick and more like corn bread. Breakfast options were fairly limited as well and we made the bad decision to wander down the trolley line to the Riverwalk Cafe for a more traditional breakfast. Please DO NOT make that same mistake!

Beautiful hotel and comfortable rooms. The views and the sea lions made it worth it.

SO expensive for what it is.

    Location is good.

Parking sucked. Staff meh.., one good. One seemed like she wouldn’t piss on you if you were on fire. Noisy rooms just around corner from the hotel bar Hotel is trying VERY hard to be hip and Scandinavian BUT low quality fixtures and design just comes off as Mississippi double-wide trailer.
