The only downsides to the room we had were stains on the carpet in one area and a sketchy shower head. However, we were awakened by very loud noises ( think t-Rex stomping) which shook the room and lasted about an hour. We were told in the morning that passing ships cause the pylons to bang into the building. It was disconcerting and impossible to sleep through.

The room was spacious with a large balcony. The indoor fireplace made it cozy and the upscale nautical theme was well done. Location is perfect for walking to most attractions and restaurants. We didn’t use the saunas but it’s an extra that many might love. Valet parking is affordable and the welcome glass of champagne was a nice touch. The salmon chowder at the hotel restaurant was outstanding.

Unless you paid extra for the valet parking finding a nearby on street parking place sometimes proved problematic.

The building is literally built on a pier over the water. We had a perfect view of the Columbia River. The in-house cafe was convenient and good.

Most of the menu items were unavailable the evening we arrived and so we settled for some focaccia which was very thick and more like corn bread. Breakfast options were fairly limited as well and we made the bad decision to wander down the trolley line to the Riverwalk Cafe for a more traditional breakfast. Please DO NOT make that same mistake!

Being that close to the enormous and powerful Columbia River was a magical experience… the Bowline’s simple and contemporary design of the converted cannery structure allows you to focus on the main event (the river and all its ship traffic) whether from your own riverfront room, the Knot Bar and hotel lobby or their spacious outdoor deck areas. The hotel in general and our River View King room actually exceeded my expectations and were nicer in person than in pictures. For one, both the property and our room were spotlessly clean. The staff was warm and friendly (without being obsequious) and greeted us with a welcome glass of Prosecco at check in. Arrival and offloading luggage was convenient with several short term parking spaces available right at the front door. We found free overnight street parking less than one block away. No sea lions were in attendance that night and our room midway down the ground floor hallway was very quiet. The mattress was apparently some type of memory foam and was a new experience for us but it still had adequate back support and we slept well. In-room pour over coffee and tea service was appreciated but the barista in the lobby bar made the best latte I had on our entire trip.

Difficult to move the curtains to the side because they are high and the makeshift curtain swag holder is backwards, so it doesn't hold the curtain over.

Location and views are perfect for this area.

Two things: 1. I pulled a hamstring whilst stepping into the shower, and I will likely be nursing that injury for several weeks to come. There is no "caution, slippery shower" notice posted, nor is there any slip mat or other mitigation on the shower floor. It's just plain slick. Holding the support bar while taking a shower proved difficult and annoying. 2. For the love of all that's right and good in this world, please fix the stray, unconnected support pylon that is swaying listlessly in the water on the north side of the building. It moves with the force of the water, and bangs very loudly against the rest of the pier, which then reverberates through the whole building. I first thought someone was repeatedly slamming a door all night in an adjacent room and thought to notify the desk attendant. Nope. I walked out to the patio of my room and saw and heard it firsthand. Those earplugs in the room weren't only "in case of sea lions"...just saying.

Impeccable facilities. Clean, great location. Friendly, kind staff. Excellent bar and restaurant. Valet parking on-site. Incredible view!

I thought for the price it was a bit rustic, but overall it was great. The maid skipped out room for some reason and I had to request a cleaning. Not sure why.

Friendly staff, comfortable bed. It's a great Astoria location, walking distance from everything we want to do.

walls between rooms were not well insulated, $15 for parking, lighting in the bathroom could be better and more counter space around sink.

Location is great; right on the river with a neat view and close to everything in town. Loved our sea lion neighbors! A great touch for the hotel to provide ear plugs and a sound machine…just in case.
