Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThis was not a hotel in any sense of the word. There was no staff on site, there was nobody to call in case of a problem. There is no elevator which can really be a problem for some people.

United StatesThe entrance and routing to your room is a bit off putting.
The room was clean and nicely decorated. There was an iron, ironing board, hair dryer, coffee maker, toaster oven, kitchen supplies, tv, electric fireplace, table and stools. Plenty of outlets.

United StatesThe entrance is super gross, it smells like cigarette smoke and weed and piss. When you enter into the hotel, it’s better. However, my room smelled like food. I think there’s a vent attached that connects to a kitchen because the smell was overwhelming.
Great location and easy to access.

United StatesRecently finished construction of facility with lots of loose ends.
location on Main St. in Beacon is primo. "Hotel" is a misnomer. It is a set of newly developed studio apartments in an old residence hotel. So, kind of self serve, like airbnb. Overseer , John, was very friendly and helpful. the email connections towards getting in left something to be desired. We stayed in a third floor apartment. there was no elevator but John got our luggage delivered in and out. Seniors be aware.

United StatesThe entrance was a little hard to locate, and the lobby was ramshackle. There was no elevator, so I basically left my suitcase in my car trunk, as my room was on the third floor. The room was secure, but getting up there was roundabout and there were no staff to help and direct.
My room at the Beacon Hotel was delightful, decorated with an arty flair and very comfortable. The amenities of the small kitchenette and the design of the room were quite appealing. I was more put off by the entrance and the building itself.

United StatesFinding and getting to the room is very weird. There's nothing on the front of the building saying it's the Beacon Hotel. Once we established that, to get to our room on the third floor we had to climb two flights of stairs that felt like we were in a youth hostel at best. There are no human beings in reception or anywhere else.

this is NOT a hotel, it is a boardinghouse. if you are looking for a sweet small city hotel with an inviting lobby with a bar/ restaurant where you could relax for the night, this is not it. To enter, you go through an unlabeled door (actually says Beacon Mini Apartments) and then go up a staircase where you can turn right for the "mini apartments" or turn left to enter the "hotel". we were unfortunately met on the otherwise vacant and somewhat shabby staircase by a man seemingly our of his mind, staring at the wall and grumbling (he is not here to assist with check-in, rest assured). the room was fine and comfy but the vibe of the place is all wrong and quite honestly, a turnoff. also, i should note, after you accept the 200$ per night fee (way too high) you then get slapped with a 75$ cleaning fee at final check out. This is under no circumstance worth 300$ and is clearly false advertising by calling it a hotel. for the love a God, please stop using the word HOTEL if it is not a hotel!

United StatesIt is a renovated building so disability access is limited.
Mr. John is an excellent representative of the Beacon community and it was nice to stay in a space owned by a community member. there are still some renovations coming to the space but it is a welcomed addition to the quaint mainstream feel of the area.

United StatesSmells like cat urine and cigarettes. Not easy to find the hotel cause the signs say mini apartments nothing about a hotel. There are absolutely NO employees if you need help. Our lock on the door batteries were almost dead. We booked for one night and left 4 hrs after checking in. I do not recommend.
The rooms were decently decorated but smelled like cat pee so bad we left.

United StatesWasn't anything not to like.
The property was easily in the best location possible half a block from "Hudson valley Brewing".Staff and management of the facility was very accommodating. Rooms were clean and had all the amenities you would need to live there long term. There's a restaurant attached to the property "Carter's" that you get 10% off at. Wonderful establishment. Would love to stay here again.

United StatesThree combination locks to get to an apartment not a hotel room. Dark and confusing, cut my finger on a door handle somehow. The place is a maze!
The listing is an apartment not a hotel. Unsafe for a single woman. I needed rebook and have the person stay at the Round House hotel costing me another $279.00. I put two others in the room could share it and manage the conditions. I think a refund is in order. I am so upset with the situation I was put it. The journalist who I needed to move was very upset with me and I am still dealing with that as my company had flown her in from Texas to do the work. On top of having to explain six times to my about the issue and dealing with her complaint. I do plan to not use Booking.com for any future reservations.
