Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandQuintessentially Boston ‘brownstone’ accommodation. Comfortable and clean. Very friendly and helpful staff with a great knowledge of the city. Excellent location close to shops, restaurants, university, green-spaces and transportation. Perfect for settling students in to university or visiting family.

United StatesParking was a bit of a challenge. While we didn’t need any assistance, the hours that the facility is staff is limited. (8 am-9pm) Breakfast didn’t start until 8 and we needed to depart earlier than 8, however we were able to grab a packaged snack for the road.
Historic feel. Location was very convenient to walk to Fenway park for an event (Red Sox game).

United StatesI'm in my 80's with slightly impaired mobility. A handrail for the second set of steps into the hotel would be helpful. First floor rooms were fine - there are stairs to upper floors which would have been more difficult.
My room (The Bostonian) was large with good mattress, comfortable seating, and lamps right where you needed them. The woodwork and fireplace tiles are old and beautiful. Furniture is functional but not of the age of the building, but this isn't a restoration. Staff were helpful - for example there was no problem keeping our knapsacks safe after sign-out so we could do a few Boston activities unencumbered. Public transportation is a few steps from the front door. I've always admired the rows of late 19th century brownstones - it was fun to base our Boston trip in one of them. Not for someone that's looking for sleek modern accommodations, but a great experience if you want to experience old Boston. Economical too especially since you can fix a basic breakfast before setting out. I'll definitely recommend it to friends.

CanadaA little noisy with the train but white noise did the trick. The doorstop in the Kenmore room is a toe buster 🤦🏼♀️

United StatesNo elevator but stairs manageable. My room was on the 2nd floor.
Good location. T Green Line C is across the street. Many places to eat within walking distance. The room is clean, bed comfortable, pillows not great, tv is big with options to watch Freevee, option to log in to your Netflix and Prime Video subscription, bathroom is clean with good water pressure. Strong wi-fi connection.

United StatesNot a dislike, but a lot of the Inn is original from over 100 years ago, so do not expect super clean or modern spaces. Also, a four floor walk up to our room, but the staircase itself is original and beautiful.
Old brownstone townhouse on Beacon Street. The Inn is well managed and the staff were very accommodating to our personal needs.

United StatesEven though our room had its own bathroom, the community bathroom was behind a door that was connected to our room. It was locked and blocked by dresser so no issues there but you can absolutely hear everything. We were woken up at around 6 in the morning because someone decided to take a phone call and have it on speaker. My mom and I woke up to it so confused. But even with that you can hear anyone in that bathroom no matter the volume. The hotel is very nice, the staff is nice, and the location is great. Just wish it had better sound proofing, but I guess it can’t be helped with it being an old structure
Spacious clean rooms and super convenient location.

United StatesThe bathroom was a bit cramped and there was some dust/dirt in the corners. The bed was also sunken into one side, which made for poor sleep.
It was nearby a train station and breakfast was fine with some simple croissants and muffins they probably bought from a grocery store. The room was fairly spacious.
