How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I’m have been waiting for the deposit $250 refund for 4 days. I think that it’s not necessary to hold guests money for that long time. I have been traveling across the U.S. for two weeks, and your hotel is the only one that has held my deposit for this long.

Pool hours closing at 9pm and then not opening until 9am felt a bit limiting. The bed was marginal, but acceptable. Overall, no major complaints and we'd stay there again.
The Beach Haven was in a great location along Pacific Beach. It was very close to the beach and many restaurants in the area. The pool and hot tub was working which was very nice. The staff was great! No complaints at all! We highly recommend!

The only thing I didn't like was the shower floor, which features black grout with black, polished stones. With a black shower floor, you cannot see if there is mold or mildew. It doesn't feel completely sanitary.
Hailey, the desk clerk, was friendly and professional. I was able to park right in front of the building. My room was quiet, comfortable, and clean. The bed was comfortable; the TV had a feature to stream from my phone, which was wonderfully modern. Most hotels have outdated TVs that do not allow you to connect your laptop or stream your account. The room was spacious and equipped with a fridge.

A little more seating comfort would have been better. Watching tv from a bed is not comfortable.

This hotel was perfect for us. Close to the beach and shopping with lots of eating choices. The our room had a couple of issues ( the bathroom faucet was completely falling off) but the hotel staff did their best to help us even though it wasn’t fixed while we were there

The floor shouldn’t be carpet, there was sand piled up against corners and the bed platform. Which is expected to a point but it was a lot. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. Also, we could hear everyone upstairs, I’m glad we are heavier sleepers because it didn’t wake us up. If the beds were more comfortable I would probably stay again, the other things I could overlook.
The location is great, I was able to check in 2hrs early which was ideal! The parking was good, it was everything we needed for our stay. The bathroom was nice, the amenities were nice, the pool and hot tub was nice to have too in fall. Easy walk to the beach, the food without having the party scene sound! We had an end room and couldn’t hear the neighbors!

Although the window was low to have a headboard, maybe there could be some accommodation for one or have a long pillow behind the pillows. Otherwise, everything was very nice and comfortable.

Plastic cutlery and plates were hard to use. Coffee could have included more non decaf options.
Decent sized pool, Chrome cast, sofa and bed were comfortable, strong AC was very much appreciated!

It was like an apartment so there was a separate kitchen, living room area and bedroom. The air conditioner was in the kitchen. Also, there was no tv in the bedroom, only in the living room area.
The location was really great. The bed was super comfortable.
