How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

We were really pleasantly surprised at how well sized the room was for NYC. Lots of storage in main room and bathroom area (we didn’t travel light!) and was also very clean. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, particularly the door staff. Nothing was a problem. There was plenty within walking distance, including Brooklyn Bridge and Battery Park, but being right across from Fulton St meant we could get everywhere by Subway in such a short space of time. There are also lots of local cafes and food outlets to enjoy. We were on 19th floor directly under the rooftop bar and on check in we were told if there were any issues to let staff know and they would move us room, but we didn’t hear a thing. We’d have had no idea!

Being refused entry to the upstairs bar twice. First for a private function (understandable). The second time we were told we couldn't have a drink unless we were having a meal/snacks.
Staff were polite, friendly and helpful at reception.

We were so happy that we chose Artezen for our one night stay in NYC The desk staff and concierge, Christian, were incredibly friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and we loved that a few bottles of water and some snacks were made available to us. Our bed was comfortable and the hotel was quiet. We enjoyed dinner at the rooftop lounge. We appreciated the fact that the hotel let us drop off our luggage early and then leave it after checkout until such time as we had to catch our train.

Great hotel , room was bigger than I expected for New York - 2 large queen size beds with space for luggage as well. Bathroom was good size and clean as well. Lots of food places around the hotel , pizza/ pho/ Chinese / sushi and Indian. Subway station with great connections to central NYC and airport just across the street.

NBD, missed microwave oven for heating up leftovers. Would be great for even a common space to have it. Wish we had enough time to check out the hide at the 20th floor.
Excellent staff! Fantastic location. Like 2 block from one world trade center towers. Fulton station is literally on the same block.

Light switches weren't in obvious locations in the room; tea and coffee setup was all plugged into a massive tangle of wires, with some plugs a bit worn out.
The staff is amazing. Friendly and constantly ready to help. Rooms are a good size; beds are comfortable. Truly excellent shower. Nespresso coffee machine a big plus! Wonderful location downtown, close to many subway lines and ferry.

They could although have been more flexible on me trying to cancel one day, specially since they had people interested on staying the night I wouldn't be there.
Very clean and comfortable. Staff is friendly and helpful. Location is excellent. 6 minute walk from Whole Foods, Oculus is nearby and stations are just around the corner.

The room was great. Location was fine, we picked this hotel to be away from the main tourist traps and busy areas. Staff, especially the concierges, were great - very friendly, helpful and always greeted us with a smile.

Very little. The only comment I would make is the lifts can be slow as only two lifts.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the room was very clean and serviced every day, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Loved our stay.

Furniture and carpet dated.
I never stay in a hotel when I am in NY for pleasure, but I wanted to treat my children to a nice hotel centrally located. The hotel was everything I wanted it to be: perfect location to all the main activities we had planned, literally the subway at your doorstep, the beds were almost TOO comfortable and the rooms clean. Staff was always friendly. The only small criticism is that the hotel could use a bit of a refresh: The furniture is quite dated and the carpet looks very old, but everything else was perfect. No city views, but it is located in a very dense part of the Financial District. All in all, we were so happy to have a clean, comfortable and friendly safe place to rest on hot 38C days!

The room was a little small but it was fine for just two of us.
It was beautiful! Everything was really nice. The staff really went above and beyond. Daniel, the concierge went above and beyond to give us some excellent recommendations. Great location.
