It was cost-effective and served our purpose well (we needed a place to stay for the night after a very long drive). The receptionist at the front desk was very welcoming and friendly.

Ants in two rooms, on ac unit, on beds, on countertop under tv. We moved twice which was a pain and then I couldn’t stop worrying that there were ants in the new room too.

The area for the continental breakfast was a little small.

It was clean and quiet. No unusual smells. The breakfast had a good assortment of items available, including a waffle maker, yogurt and fresh fruit.

The deck area is nice, but needs an updated look.

The lovely lady at check-in is super-friendly. My request for a 1st floor room was granted on both stays, and my room was close to my car for easy moving of my stuff. In-room amenities were all excellent.

The rooms have a smoky smell. Seems like they need to be cleaned to get the smell out. No elevator!!

The AC didn't really cool off the room and one light by the bed didn't work. The vending machine was pretty much empty.

There were a couple of ants crawling around the air conditioner unit. I said something to the desk clerk. She put some ant traps in the room. I did not see any more ants crawling.

There wasn’t much space for eating breakfast. There was easy confusion between this property and another property with the almost same name (which is what I thought I was booking).

We loved the price and the relative proximity to Galesburg and where we needed to be.

Just two things, neither of which impacted our stay. First, it was a bit confusing to find the hotel, because on the sign it's called "America's Best Value Inn" not "American Inn and Suites." Second, when I made my reservation, I received a form notice that, due to Covid, the pool would be closed and breakfast options affected. I had no plans to use the pool (which appeared to be in great shape and ready for use at this time), and breakfast wasn't noticeably affected, so this made no difference to me. However, if the pool is usable now, it would be a good idea to eliminate that form notice. If not, it should not be mentioned in the hotel profile that the hotel has a pool.

Very good value for the price. The staff was cordial and welcoming, the room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was the usual self-serve assortment of juices, yogurt. muffins, fruit, waffles, etc., with enough options to keep us happy. There was a pleasant little patio with picnic tables at one end of the hotel. We weren't there long enough to use it, but it looked like a nice area for group use. There was also a washer and dryer available for use during the day.

When arriving the frontage road isn't well marked, it's not hard but easy to miss. There was an outlet(which included the alarm clock) that didn't work, to be fair I didn't notify the desk, I was a little busy. The pool is closed, but that is not listed on the website, there is a email notification that goes out after booking citing COVID may affect amenities, but is not clear on what. The breakfast is plain jane. Nothing bad, but it consists of waffles, toast/bagels, yogurt/fruit, and cereal.

The room was comfortable and clean. All the employees that I met were friendly and helpful. The water was hot. The location was inexpensive and it was close to all the places I needed to go for my visit. The hotel was good for what we paid for, it was not flashy with tons of amenities but it was very serviceable and clean.
