Gina (the manager) was pretty awesome. We had a bit of an issue with the 3rd party booking.com & she let us know that she could be contacted via her business card if we had any issues or help.

The hotel is near a busy road and next to a commercial car wash. This meant there was constant road noise, car wash sounds and activity through the night. Better soundproofing would have been good. A few homeless people around which might shock visitors from overseas, harmless but confronting.

Breakfast was good and location is conveniently located within a 10 minute walk to Balboa Avenue Station. There's also an onsite laundry for guests. Friendly staff.

My husband insisted I submit the review because he was so disappointed with breakfast. After he looked it over, he said even the coffee was a brown hot liquid, not coffee, and there wasn't even toast. So I didn't even go look. He said it was scrambled egg and pancakes, and I saw apples and oranges in the office when I checked in, so I'm thinking fruit too, but we skipped it.

This seems like an old motel that has been renewed in a hip way. It looks good and is modern, but the rooms are very small. The desk person recommended two restaurants literally steps away, aSm sushi and a Thai. We chose Thai and it was very good. And we liked the location near the beach, but not close enough to see it or walk to it. We loved that it's pet friendly and the internet worked especially well.

The images are a bit deceptive, the rooms have windows into the hallway so some get natural light and some don’t, but past that people can see in if your curtains aren’t drawn.

Fire alarm went off when the bathroom fan couldn't keep up with the steam. Couple of roaches in the bathroom, but the staff said they'd get someone in to check for the source once that was reported. Soundproofing toward the hallway wasn't great. Wouldn't be that big of a problem if the room wasn't directly in front of the only elevator.

Pleasant professional staff, comfortable beds, blackout curtains, and good Internet service. Was able to reach the front desk with a question immediately in the early AM. Didn't hear any noise from other rooms.

The staff while not rude, but were not very welcoming, the breakfast variety was somewhat bland. No hot sauce for the eggs, no butter for the waffles. The pool was cold. Not enough parking.

The breakfast hours were good, open from 6:30-10 a.m, the location is easy to get to. Its quiet and the bed is comfy. The shower is easy to use, and the oranges and waffles at the breakfast are delicious.

I had some interactions with staff that weren't ideal; the man who checked me in was short with me when I asked a question about the property, and the second time I had to go get another key card made, the agent spent about 5 minutes making chitchat with the prior customers while I was waiting in line. The room itself was tiny, while the renovated bathroom was almost the same size as the bedroom. It would have been nice to have had an instruction card for the TV because it seemed to be stuck on one channel.

There was a generous breakfast, I liked the cleanliness and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The location near Mission Bay Park and near my event were good, as well. I could walk to a good coffee shop nearby, and Pacific Beach was a few miles away. The local food delivery info was a nice touch.

Our room was right in front of the highway so we can hear traffic from outside at night.

Price was good for the location and breakfast was decent with generous serving of eggs, sausages, bread, waffles, cereals and apples.

There was nothing wrong with the general cleanliness, but there were some strange black spots on a few towels, and the bedding had a rather peculiar smell. I should also mention that the neighborhood wasn't the quietest due to the constant traffic.

I really liked the self-service waffle maker. I've never used one before. The maple syrup-topped result was really delicious. The guy at the reception was very helpful.

The staff weren’t very friendly. The room is very small and no room between the bed and the window. The breakfast was very limited and the scrambled eggs were watery.
