How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe folks who run the Inn are fabulous - made us feel welcome and at home, and they were so very helpful with advice on the types of hikes we wanted to do. The breakfasts were delicious!
The upstairs room, while very comfortable, was a bit hot and stuffy at night despite opening windows. This would not be an issue in cooler weather, but it was warm while we visited. Fans were likely available if we had asked.
Thank you so much for taking the time to give us this helpful review! We do have lots of fans available upon request - we're sorry one of them didn't make it to you! (AC is not commonly found here in Alaska.) We wish you all the best and hope our paths cross again someday!

Verified reviewBreakfast was very nice. The staff were charming. Interesting older house. We could have done our laundry there but did not realize this at the time.
While the facility was reasonable close to restraurants and other attractions, it was up hill. We had our transportation from our small cruise drop us off at a laundry and it seemed like a short walk but we found out there were many stairs on the route we took. Perhaps working with google and Apple Maps to give a better indication of the many steps from the Laudromat would be helpful.
We appreciate your taking the time to review, and it was great to have you here! We will be sure to inform our guests more thoroughly regarding what their options are here for laundry. Have a good one!

Verified reviewThe hosts, Linda and Mark were fantastic. Breakfast shared in the dining room with other guests who were almost all “un-cruise” customers was great. Linda allowed us to check in early and invited us to join the existing and departing guests for breakfasts, which was really nice. She also provided a box breakfast for our early departure.
Booking.com rating was very misleading. We were very disappointed at the level of accommodation offered for the price. The B&B must be incorrectly priced on Booking.com as we paid $682 per night for a very old and tired suite in a period cottage style home that was quaint but no way close to being value for money. Our bed had several mattresses piled on top of each other which made it very soft and uncomfortable. It was squeezed into a space that made it impossible to walk around and difficult to get into. The toilet and bathroom had no door to the sleeping area.
Thank you for your stay - we do take your feedback seriously and will be sure to pass it along. Take good care and safe future travels.

Verified reviewFirst time visiting Juneau, our goal was to explore the city. This location was perfect to walk over to the capitol, the historic district, the piers, and lots of great eatery options. We were able to park our rental car on site for travel over to EagleCrest & some local hikes too. More than anything we appreciated the caretakers (Bing & Elizabeth) who made the experience very enjoyable. The daily breakfasts included are a delicious healthy treat to start each day….and a great way to meet other guests. Elizabeth & Bing’s experiences are amazing to hear about…and the homemade cookies and well stocked tea & coffee bar were always greatly appreciated. The B&B was the best lodging option we could have chosen. Highly recommend!
Hi guys! Thanks so much for the stellar review - we appreciate it so much! Hope we see you again soon!

Verified reviewGreat hospitality! Breakfast was freshly prepared every morning, and utterly delicious. Love the cookies too, especially when piping hot and fresh out of the oven.
Our room was the only twin room and is the smallest room available. Would love the chance to experience the bigger rooms, but they were all 1 big bed instead of two single ones.
Thank you for the great feedback! We appreciate it! And just a note if you return to visit us - two of our rooms are kings with a second bed option (one a twin rollaway and another a full pull-out). Take good care!

Verified reviewElizabeth and Bing were the kindest, most helpful and gracious of hosts. They run a really delightful home from home and I cannot recommend it enough. The room was stunning, the bathroom massive and lovely, and the whole place is lovingly and thoughtfully furnished. Breakfast is an event, make time for it in your busy schedule! This is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed, in any country, and it made my experience of Juneau a truly memorable one. Thank you so much!

Verified reviewCapitol Inn is a delightful old building, full of fascinating antiques and charm. Elizabeth and Bing are great hosts. The breakfasts were delicious and artistic.
Our room had a high bed that required steps and a claw-foot tub shower. Others might find these delightful but at my advanced age they were difficult to manage. If you are not agile, you should book a room with more accessible features.
Thank you for your helpful review! We loved having you here!
