Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesHotel is a bit dated - ie. sofa back was completely peeling, and they put a towel over to cover the cracks. Some lights didn't work, and it was flickering, so I just turned it off.
Room was spacious. It would have been nicer to get room service without asking, but staff was friendly when I needed new towels / supplies. Good, central, yet quiet location. The front desk staff was friendly, and easy parking access.

United StatesTwo flights of stairs off the street to get to the lobby aren't a perfect way to start your stay. There was a coffee pot but not coffee. The hot water in the sink and shower is a dribble(but the shower head is great). The A/C is just OK. Evenings in the summer warm up the room. And room service is only upon request. Some may find this petty as do I, the stay was a good stay. Someone might be picky and find this helpful. It is a historical hotel.
The mattress was extremely comfortable as well as the pillow. And there is a secure parking lot($40.00 per night😫). The Driftwood bar is an excellent stop. The drinks are great, and the bartenders know their business. It is a historic hotel.

CanadaThe parking was a little sketchy. While nothing was stolen from our car, and it in a parking structure, we did see hand and face prints on our vehicle in the morning. So, someone definitely tried to see if we left anything in the car (we didn’t, thankfully).
The hotel was in a nice, central location. Walking distance to everything we needed. Great for walking to the stadium.

ItalyThe heating did not work. It was exceptionally cold for being June and we did not have warm clothes with us. But the staff brought us to the room blankets and bathrobe and it all became nice and cozy. Also, it is a pity that Gracie, the restaurant, is only open for breakfast
Great location, near the museum we visited, close to restaurants and easy to get to

United StatesIt’s super cute and great size room. The vibes overall were amazing the staff let us use the disabled lift for our baby stroller since the entrance is all stairs which was super nice of them. Sad we couldn’t try the brunch it wasn’t open during our stay so definitely a reason to go back.

United StatesThe couch in the suite was a little tattered.
The hotel itself has a very special vibe. The attention to detail and the "old Hollywood" aesthetic is fantastic. We have stayed in other boutique hotels and found the parking to be less than ideal. While this may not seem like a major factor when picking a hotel, we found comfort knowing our car was close by and safe.

ItalyI miss having the restaurant open for regular hours. We wanted to dine at Gracie and were looking forward to the exceptional cuisine, but were surprised that it is not only open for breakfast. The breakfast was very good, but the variety of the menu has also decreased. It was a bit of a disappointment
the flair of the hotel is exceptional, the room comfortable and the location very central. It is easy to get to from the highway and the breakfast is very good. We always stay there when we go to Portland and feel almost like home.

United StatesThe bathroom window was broken, letting in air and sound. At night we had to close the bathroom door to stop any sound and cold air from getting into the main room. There was a dead bug on the light in the bathroom that was large and hard to over look. The walls are thin and we could hear the entire phone conversation of one of the other guests.
The staff were very professional and nice. The room was very clean and the decor was nice. The location was great, close to downtown, and close to the freeway. We stayed here to be close to OHSU and it was only an 8 minute drive away. The neighborhood felt safe and was quiet at night. The parking garage was nice and fairly priced compared to other comparable hotels.
