We would have loved an in-apartment washer and dryer. We used the facility once, but it was harder to navigate and use since it was at the back of the building and down a set of stairs. Chicago transit isn't as intuitive or easy as New York or London, and the Pink Line (closest Metro) and bus combos often would have been an hour long commute when we could drive somewhere in 15-20 minutes... so we ended up driving and parking (book ahead Parking garage spots!) instead of relying on transit. Again, not anything the hosts can control, but a note if you're planning on using CTA primarily.

Location is city living-- if you're used to cities, this was a nice location (the neighborhood is a little 'good block- bad block- good block). We felt safe on the street, and the houses were all kept up nicely. If you're used to country living, it's a little bit on the urban side-- not too much traffic on THIS street, but you hear cars and people at all hours. We stayed right after the Fourth of July, and fireworks were all night long on the 5th and 6th.... the 7th it was a little quieter, but that's not anything the hosts can control! Apartment was VERY roomy for a city flat! Everyone enjoyed being able to spread out. The kitchen had EVERYTHING/ANYTHING you'd need. We really enjoyed the griddle on the range top-- :-) We always found a spot to park in front of the house, but were super happy to hear that there's also a designated parking spot BEHIND the building, in case we needed it!

We all brought less clothing because of the washer/dryer option. However, they are down several flights of stairs at the back of the house, which made us nervous, and are shared with other renters in the entire house. When we tried to do a load of laundry, someone else's was in there, so we gave up due to our time restraints. A suggestion would be (and what we expected) a stacked unit in the apartment itself. Otherwise, just a few touches that would be appreciated and make the rental shine: a chest of drawers in each bedroom, as well as a luggage stand and trash cans in each, washcloths along with the towels in the bathrooms, and dishcloths in the kitchen -- we hated using so many paper towels. Also, one idea -- instead of assorted mismatched shampoo/conditioner/body wash, each shower features wall-mounted refillable dispensers. It will probably be more cost-effective and easier to clean up.

The location was stellar -- central to everything we needed -- and we enjoyed being in this neighborhood setting. The apartment was clean and bright, and the beds were super comfortable! Tian is a personable and thoughtful host. The two showers in one bathroom amused us, and for our company retreat (web developers), we did a flow chart trying to suss out how that happened, as we've never seen that before. It was truly an excellent value for the money and ample parking in the big city was also a huge plus. It's also close to the CTA.

The king bed in the back room was extremely low, to the floor, it was a little difficult to get out cause I am tall.

The home is very spacious and everyone had a place to lay their heads, and what I loved about the home was the bathroom had 2 showers in it, so it made things easier. The security of the place as well.

We had plenty of room for four people and enjoyed our stay. The bathroom with the two showers in it is a bit strange. But there is a half bathroom and so we managed ok. The contact with the host was easy and our questions were always answered immediately. We were glad that we had a car to get groceries or to go to restaurants. There is really nothing around the property in this regard. It is a quiet neighbourhood and people we saw greeted or waved. The train station is about five minutes on foot away and it was easy to get into Chicago city centre and back.

I didn't like that when we arrived it didn't look to have been cleaned very well, dirty towels were still on the floor and the beds weren't made plus the sheets were a bit dirty. But overall it wasn't terribly dirty.

First the location is not ideal.. we had lots of police in the area which seemed quite disturbed. We heard what seemed gunshots one evening.. overall scary for the kids. Sent messages to the landlord but they didn’t respond.. and lots of construction which we should have been told as we had to move our car early everyday
