Overall, my stay was good, but there are a few things that could be improved. First, the wristband system for the pool really needs a rethink. No one wants to wear a band in the sun all day, and they tend to fall off if they're not put on super tight. Getting questioned by staff about it wasn't the most relaxing experience, though once they got to know us, they were more relaxed about it. Also, the rooms could use a bit more attention when it comes to cleanliness, and the bathrooms are ready for some updates. My shower had cracks in the wall and the shower head didn’t work very well. That said, the staff was friendly and helpful, which made a big difference during our stay.

I had a great stay. From the moment I checked in to the moment I left, the staff was friendly and welcoming. It really made a difference. Knowing that the staff stays on property and is available when needed gave a sense of comfort and reliability. The whole vibe of the place was exactly what you'd want—relaxed, chill, and easygoing. Just like the keys should be!

I liked the hotel. A good hotel for the amount of money it costs. The location is good, the room was clean, there was even a small beach from the hotel. There are hotels better, of course, but their prices are several times higher.

We felt that the price for our room was high for what it was. This is an older motel--- well maintained, but still, a motel. (We stayed at a lovely, renovated guesthouse in Key West for less per night than Blackfin.) One of the beds in our room had a particularly uncomfortable, lumpy mattress and, while the sheets were clean, I didn't care for the worn bed covers.

My husband and I stayed one night at the Blackfin Resort and Marina earlier this month. Pulling in to the office parking lot, the building looked closed up, not like a place we’d want to stay. Happily, the rooms, located in buildings behind the office, were clean and well maintained. Park right in front of your room. Room 26 had 2 beds, a microwave, good size coffee pot & fixings, and small fridge. Drinks vending machine. The pool looked inviting. The pier area behind the rooms was a very nice touch, with a few picnic tables, a couple of lounge chairs, and a grill--- right on the water, just next to a boat dock.

The charcoal grills need cleaned out and bathrooms are tiny.

Quaint little resort where kids can roam, ride scooters, swim & be safe doing so. We used the picnic area with charcoal grills & enjoyed that. All the staff were easy-going and friendly. So close to stores, restaurants.

The room was pretty small but it was just us two so it was fine. The bed wasn’t very comfy. The window film in the shower had a strip missing so people could peek in so that needs to be fixed. We had to wear wrist bands while on the property because locals have been vandalizing the property. I thought that was kinda strange. Also I think adding weather strips to the doors would be a good idea bc there is a decent sized gap in between the floor and the door. Adding that would help keep the room cool and keep out bugs and little lizards which are everywhere in the keys.

The furniture was nice, had good lighting, the room was tidy, the staff was nice and very helpful, the marina was cool, and I liked the big orange chair they had out by the swimming area. We really enjoyed watching the sunset out there on our last night in the keys. The pics on here don’t match exactly what it looks like now bc they updated it after a storm but it’s quite nice. Like 5 minutes from a publix and sombrero beach which is nice but Bahia Honda is better and only 15 minutes away! The pics I’ve included of the room were taken as we were leaving.

It would be helpful to add towel hooks or racks so towels and swimwear could be hung up to dry.

Didn't have breakfast. We liked the simplicity and Old Florida feel. The location was really good for us. We enjoyed the pool, the relaxing outdoor areas like the picnic areas and walking to the point by the lighthouse to watch the sunset.

The window shutters in the room are tricky and if you're not careful people walking by can see inside your room. It would be good to add curtains for extra privacy. We also had issue with the window. We couldn't open it, so we had to constantly use the air conditioner to not suffocate.

The pool was really nice and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The washer and drier worked properly (extra fee).

A little hard to find off the main road

It says 24 hrs front desk. You lucky if they're there until 4 pm. It said it was beachfront..yeah, you can watch the water but you can't get in. And it was a small pool that they had.

I liked the bed. And I liked the staff when they were there. I liked places where I could go and get meals.

The room was a little small, and our room was close to the highway. They need to invest in some bigger bath towels.

The room was very clean and the amenities were as advertised. Overall it is a well kept property. There was a cute little tiki/beach area on the gulf. The housekeeping was excellent.

The Blackfin Resort was better than the expected, we got a fair value for what we paid. The room was simple and basic but everything was super clean. The hotel beach clse to the Marina is nice place to watchthe sunset. For the pupose of swimming we prefered to drive to Sombrero beach that is only about 5 minutes away. We are also greateful for the fantastic restaurant recommendation for dinner and breakfast!

If you’re a snob and are going to critique everything this place is not for you. It’s quiet, great value, and marathon is better than Key West. Really enjoyed the stay.
