The prices at onsite restaurant were approximately double expected prices for area. Also, off street parking was valet only and charge was $35.00 per night.

Great location. Within walking distance to Carolina Theater. Room was very nice.

The hotel is undergoing long term renovation. It needs it.

We like the location there are a wide variety of restaurants and coffee shops nearby as well as entertainment venues in walking distance..

We arrived well after check in and our room still wasn’t ready. Instead of offering a solution or a benefit, the woman checking us in told us in kind of a matter of fact, “these things happen” way. The manager did eventually solve the problem.

It is in a great location.

The mattress was very uncomfortable certain lights were out and even with them on, the room was poorly lit especially for those with low vision The bar menu is too limited and bar hours are too short.

Nothing really but the lift buttons were not all that easy to see.

Loved the layout of the room, especially the duck in the shower which was a really nice touch.

My TV was a bit dark and I didn't have a room with a view. I really would have loved to see more of the city from my window.

The space was excellent. The museum was impressive and I would love to visit again. The room amenities were great. The bar and restaurant provided excellent service. So many things were considered for my comfort.

Both beds should have outlets for phones etc. next to each bed. No smart TV. Could not stream Netflix etc. Also no guide on the TV. Engineer explained not available. No tea kettle Fridge was not plugged in so we had to get down on hands and knees to figure that out. No chairs at table. Room service food not great. Tried to charge us for breakfast even though included with room. Manager was involved and was embarrassing. In the end it was sorted out. They apologized. Brunch food was good but service not the best. Slow even though nobody was in the restaurant.

Hotel very nice inside and the museum pieces interesting.

They offer a late check out for an additional $150, which is fine. But that fee is not incorporated into the cost of staying another night if one should need to do so. I found this out because I had issues with my flight out of Durham and was unsure if I would need/want to stay another night.

I really enjoyed being immersed in the art and exploring the building.

Very old, run down hotel. I’ve stayed at other 21c properties and this one needs a makeover. Carpet is dated and looked dirty, bathrooms were decent. $35 valet when you can park for free or half price across the street. Not sure I’d stay again given the age of the hotel and newer options nearby.

Great, central location - lots of nearby food options and parking

The heat wasn’t working in our room, but everyone was kind and we were moved.

Loved the art gallery throughout, the historic building—a repurposed 1930s bank with the vault still downstairs, and walkable to many local restaurants, shops and theaters.

The staff was less than friendly. The valet attendants or people at the front door never said hello and never opened the door. The receptionists at the front desk were not welcoming either. The person checking me in maybe smiled once and mumbled through what seemed to be a list of things they are supposed to say. The person at checkout was too stressed to smile or thank me for staying. The hallway for the rooms had creepy yellow lighting. The room had stains all over the carpet and was as if the failed carpet cleaning attempt was lingering. The room had a musty, humid smell. Thankfully the bathroom and everything else in the room was clean or I would have left. The TV remote was missing the back cover which makes you notice all the other details that are missed. I was going to have dinner at the Counting House but when I walked in and saw all the lights out in the light fixtures at the bar I didn’t want to wait to be disappointed by all the other details that would be missed on a slow night.

The design and artwork of the hotel in the lobby and in the room is nice. I always like when need a room key is needed in the elevator to get to the rooms.
