How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Absolutely nothing - was perfect!
This property is very special. Not only its history but it’s absolutely gorgeous, the room came with a lounge and separate bathroom, so much space and storage for clothing. It was decorated beautifully and the soft furnishings were clean. The location of this property is incredible, you are a 2 second walk from everything you could need. The hosts were so warm and welcoming, really accommodating to us with allowing us to store our suitcases ahead of and after check in. They also did a complimentary breakfast which was decision and cooked to order. They did arrival drinks and snacks which was a lovely touch. They also have a fully stocked fridge with snacks and drinks along with access to hot drinks which made our stay feel at home. They had a cupboard full of clean beach towels and chairs you could take to the beach! The outside area was gorgeous too!

Wonderful historic house in the heart of Southampton. You feel very at home and there’s lots to explore. Friendly staff that make you feel welcome and at home. Breakfast is great!

Nothing at all!
Great wine and cheese party in the afternoon with excellent live music, excellent cooked breakfast made to order, amazing old building like a museum, friendly owners and staff, beach pass for Cooper’s Beach plus use of beach chairs and towels. Bedrooms ample in size and well appointed and clean . Great location near town center.

Nothing, it was just perfect
It’s the perfect location to wind down after long flight. Beautiful location, great room, brilliant staff. But that doesn’t do it justice. To feel at home to just help yourself to a glass of wine in the afternoon, the attention of the staff, John cooking you the perfect breakfast (but eggs Benedict 😄)… it’s the total lack of pretence which makes it great. I stay in way to many hotels per year for work but this is the only one which stood out in the last year. Just Awesome

The property was artfully restored 30 years ago and it has kept the origins while transforming it to a very comfortable property. The staff was exceptionally supportive. Their breakfast was outstanding. Central location in the Hamptons. All was superior.

Eggs missing at breakfast, maybe because we were there off season.
Very nice historical building, good beds , nice breakfast room. we enjoyed also the tour of the house.

Always high prices in Southampton!
Wonderful welcome for our family group at this beautiful historical property located right in the middle of pretty Southampton. Friendly, generous staff and great perks like a fridge full of soft drinks and snacks (I'm afraid the young ones took advantage of this!). Beds were blissful, soft sheets, great showers, everything spotlessly clean. Bountiful breakfast with a buffet and omelette etc to order. Short drive to incredible Cooper’s Beach (beach parking pass provided by hotel to save you the $50 fee) where we spent two full days lazing and swimming. I recommend bringing lunch from Golden Pear or Citarella as the beach cafe food is limited. We had a delicious meal on last night at Ketchy Beach, fun Euro beach vibe and good cocktails. Great break altogether!

The house was very beautiful and the staff was super friendly. The main guy working at front desk (sorry I didn't get his name) was warm and accommodating. He introduced the place to me and was always trying to help. He was also very genuine and had a good sense of humor, which made my vacation very pleasant. Highly recommend!
