Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsBreakfast was not ready. Chairs still on the table. No coffee ready, nor toast, butter, jam fruit, no fruitjuice. I got it when I asked for it. We went down for breakfast 7:45. And still no hot water. The usual problem with GNS. Let them install electric boilers per room.

South AfricaI was given a room with mold on the wall behind the bed and paint off. Then I was offered another room much smaller which was not the type of room I booked (was granted an upgrade when booking)

NetherlandsThe breakfast needs improvement, please. No fresh juices, no egg options (omelette, scrambled eggs, etc), limited choices altogether, and the food that I could get was really not tasty. Very dry food (matooke, potatoes). I took some bites and left. Furthermore, in a review I read about a lizard in a room. Ironically, I stayed in the hotel for two nights (non-consecutive, in different rooms) and both times I had a lizard encounter in my room! They are relatively small in size. One was alive and the other time the lizard was dead. I asked at the reception twice for the dead lizard to be removed from my room but it did not happen. So, that was weird. I removed the dead lizard myself in the end. Good thing in the hotel is that, other than the lizards, I did not see any insects or such - the rooms were really super clean. Lastly, the positioning of your room highly affects the amount of bus horns and traffic noise you need to endure. I was lucky one time and unlucky the other time. I found the traffic noise to be very extreme, yes, also for Kampala standards.
For my purposes (travel: being nearby bus terminals), the location was very convenient. The views from the hotel are pretty cool. The staff was friendly and helped me out with keeping my luggage for a couple of days. Also, an early check in was no problem, and I was assisted in friendly manner. Navigation (with bodas) to the hotel is also very easy, with the landmarks of the Mosque, GNS building and Costco supermarket.

The breakfast was fine with good range and variety. The location is a stone throw away from the Central Business District and hence accessibility is fine.

I liked the location, the staff, the neighborhood, and the spacious room. Sali and Shilla are really amazing in their hospitality and warm welcome of guests. Though it was only one night I spent there, it made me experience the kindness of Ugandan people firsthand. Sali was always there addressing all my queries with full passion. The staff were generous enough to upgrade my booked room without asking extra charges. I strongly recommend this hotel for your peace of mind.

KenyaI didn't like that the water pressure was very low in the bathroom. There was no hot water 🥵. I had to take a bath which delayed me because I had to boil water in turns. The other thing is the room I slept in wasn't full complete I think it's still under construction. Lastly I wish the receptionist can orient a client of the necessities as he hands the keys, I reached the room without the extension numbers so I had to dress up and go back to the reception which was down stairs
I loved the location. The interior was very nice plus enough space in the rooms. I also loved that breakfast had variety. I also like that the staff tried to solve my issues.

ColombiaAs some comments have mentioned, restaurant service is really slow (but this was only for dinner, at breakfast time it was fast and efficient).
Good hotel, a good value for the price. Very close to the main coach and minibus stations, with good breakfast and comfortable rooms. Hot water worked well during my stay, as well as WiFi. Also a convenient supermarket, pharmacy and money exchange office are located just outside the building.

United KingdomI would recommend to use giraffe car sorvice to and from airport, as hotel's car service bit overpriced. Showers not at their best. And almost no vegetarian options for breakfast.
Eric, front office manager was really helpful, he assisted to arrange bus tickets to Karamoja, also with the car service from the airport and dairy-free breakfast. Communication in whatsup was very prompt.

United KingdomThere was a lizard in our room when we arrived - it was however quickly removed by staff The light in our bathroom did not work - the staff said it would get fixed within 5 minutes, we waited closed to two hours. This was frustrating to me as we’d had a long day travelling and I was dying for a shower.
