They were very informative and helpful up front, providing me information about any safety situation and the really understood that for a foreigner coming to a country in war times, that that can be a little exciting for that person, that was really helpful I really liked their flexibility, because of the war and my first time being in Ukraine, I did not really know what time I would be arriving… so I was allowed to book an extra night. However I did not make it in time and they canceled the reservation for free and was allowed to check in early for the next day, what really helped me so I did not have to wait untill 14:00. They were really helpful!! Next to that, it is a nice hotel, with good views!

It is difficult to approach, either by foot or by car. Also, the music in the lounge is intrusive.

The famous Ukraina Hotel, feels absolutely upscale, luxury. The rooms are a bit dated, but still fine, very clean. Bathroom comes with a tub, not just a shower. Rich breakfast, they are cooking everything fresh for you. Laundry also available. There is a shelter in the basement. The best views to the Independence Square.

What I liked the least was having to leave….

I was in Kyiv for a week and without a doubt my stay at the Hotel Ukraine was a true highlight. Yes, the hotel is dated (built in 1961) and lacks modern facilities, but that’s why you stay here. The place simply OOOZES with charm and the views from my room (1001 - business suite) were breathtaking. The hotel is centrally located, so getting anywhere in the city is an easy walk or short metro ride. Staff was friendly and I could not have enough of the apple pancakes for breakfast. If I could give them 11 stars, I would. Thanks to the Staff for accomodating my early arrival.

Location is fantastic, doesn't get any better. Great view of the city and easy access to the center. Rooms can vary in size with some of the beds being quite small - if you're over 185cm they can be uncomfortable. Rooms have great windows and AC if needed. Bunker under the hotel is spacious and feels relatively safe.

The accommodation could use (and deserves) a meticalous renovation, with respect to it’s history. But that might be something to prioritize once the war is over and Ukrain can start an new chapter of it’s future.

You can’t get more central in Kyiv, which is great. The architecture reminds of a past era. Facilities are adequate.

When we checked in we got un upgrade, which we really liked as a newly wed couple traveling to Ukraine to deliver aid. In some sense it was our honeymoon. We didn’t really get to enjoy the room though. When we checked in the air raid alarm sounded so we went to the shelter. And had to stay there all night. The shelter was really nice though. Some good couches with blankets and a nice room where you could relax with some other guest. And the extremely deep shelter made us feel really safe.

The location is great, you have quick access to two metro lines, so direct connection to the main train station. Shelter if needed with water and beds when necessary. Also you can have a great views if you wish to.

Because a lot of international visitors arrive here and when there is an alarm most don’t have the alarm app. It would be helpful that staff go down to bomb shelter to let us know the alarm is over and we can leave the bomb shelter.
