How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location was within walking distance to a MRT
The ‘hotel’ is not a hotel at all. It is more of a accommodation It located in a 10 storey building which houses 2 travel agencies, another 2 level of accommodation known as Stay Inn, a union, and 2 other companies. It has a front desk with no staff Our superior room only has a passage to walk and no proper cupboard to keep our clothes We felt cheated As a real hotel down the room has rates cheaper than what we paid

Verified reviewLocation was great, very convenient. Room was clean and comfortable.
The self check in was complicated, as we had to pay at the property, the maximum charge was 3000NTD per payment, so if your charge is a higher amount, you will need to tap several times to pay the full amount. Best to make sure your card is able to pay the overseas charge multiple times or have other cards on standby.

No one at front desk except a housekeeper (which we learned later); she merely pointed at the machine for self check-in. Fair enough. Then I had a question so I called "9" per the instructions. While speaking (in English) to someone on the phone, the housekeeper all of a sudden approaches me and motions for me to move away from the machine or sign out because a couple (who spoke Mandarin) were asking her something. That is not good customer service! I did not appreciate that treatment. I said, NO, I need to finish my transaction. Eventually the front desk staff arrived in 5-10 minutes to assist us. There was a loud noise in the room which was determined to be arising from the air conditioner hence we were offered to relocate to another room. It took a couple of calls to "9" then serious attention was rendered. Walls are very thin, no insulation so loud noises can be heard from neighboring rooms & hallway.

Verified reviewLocation was great for walking to attractions and close to public transit. The size and amenities were good. House keeping came every day to clean trash, refresh room, and change towels. New linens on request. Staff was always friendly and helpful. English speaking or used google translate for longer/in depth conversations.
Styling was off. There was a curtain to give the bathroom privacy that was awkward to open/clothes. There was a red light that stay on all the time, which was annoying when trying to sleep. Leaving luggage at front desk was advertised, but the desk is mainly unmanned and check in/out is done through a kiosk, so your luggage isn't secured.

Verified reviewIt's a 5 minute walk from the Shuanglian MRT station and very convenient for getting to the main station and around Taipei. We stayed for a week and it was decently comfortable for two people for that time frame. The room is not too cramped and the bathroom amenities and shower were very nice. The area has plenty of restaurants and shops, and interesting things to explore on foot. Housekeeping did a great job everyday we were there. There is a security guard downstairs all the time so it seems fairly safe. The family mart and 7/11 on either side of the entrance to the building was also extremely convenient.
They do not have someone actually at the lobby desk 24/7, you check in on a machine and the payment is a bit confusing to figure out. There is a phone to call if you need assistance with something but they may not come right away. Fair amount of noise from the street but it sounds like most hotels in the area also have the same issue. The most annoying part was the bad hotel guests next door for a few nights (not the hotels fault, of course), extremely loud in the middle of the night for hours. But trying to communicate this on the phone with the staff with our limited Mandarin was difficult. I tried messaging over booking the second night and they never responded to our message. We came back from a long day out the third night and there was someone at the desk while our neighbours were blasting music so we were finally able to get the staff to intervene. There is no official luggage storage as it states on booking. You just put in behind the unstaffed front desk and hope that no one goes through your things.

Verified reviewVery close to the 雙蓮 MRT station, which connects to the 中山 underground shopping street and park. Also walking distance from the famous night market 寧夏夜市. There are two convenient stores on the ground floor of the building. The location is close to the Taipei train station and nearby attractions. Check-in and check-out are done on the self-help machine. The price is reasonable. Recommended for budget-limited stay.
1. the voices and sounds from neighouring rooms leak in. There was one night when the young were laughing and cheering ... 2. some bottons of the TV remote controller fail to work, which makes it impossible to navigate in the VOD system. I can imagine why : )
