How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNice cheap hostel that's very close to the national park in north Taipei, also close to the city (20min train). Staff were friendly and facilities were very well kept, had a great kitchen too. It's a more quiet hostel (which some might prefer) so not really for travellers looking for social hostel events.

Verified reviewIt is very basic rooms that don't have anything special in them, just a bed and a locker. It's not bad but not really good either. Room and shared bathrooms were generally clean. Location is good, further from the city center but not far from metro, close to hiking trails and hot springs.
The bed was creaking and moving a lot whenever you turn on the side, especially the higher bed. It really affected the sleep. Strange smell in the room (not sure were it came from but It seemed that from AC) No hanging hooks that would be useful No towels provided (for that price I would expect it for free). Shower is small so not very comfortable The water fountain is only on 4th floor and 1st floor. 4th floor only gives hot (or very warm) water so it is inconvenient to have to go from 5th floor to 1st just to get drinking water. Walls are very thin so expect to have to wear earplugs if you don't want to be disturbed (earplugs are provided). AC was annoying at night as it is above bed and no matter how you set it up, it blows cool air right at you. If you turn it off to not be disturbed by the blowing, then it gets hot and air gets very stale in the room. It's not that good value for money, I have stayed in more cheap hostels in Taiwan that had better facilities and rooms.
Hello, thank you for your review and for sharing your experience~ Our air conditioners are cleaned regularly, but due to the frequent rain recently, there may be a slight damp smell in the room and from the air conditioning. We suggest turning on the dehumidifier function first, or you can inform the front desk, and we’ll be happy to help address any odor issues. As mentioned in the booking confirmation message, personal items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and towels need to be brought by guests, which you might have missed. Regarding the pricing, considering the current accommodation rates in Taipei, it is unlikely to find a double room under NT$2000 on weekends. As for the water dispenser, it was added on the 4th floor for the convenience of guests staying on higher floors. Many Asian guests prefer to drink warm or hot water. Wishing you a pleasant journey and all the best!

Verified reviewGreat little hostel that has everything you need. Best thing is that it’s near heaps of hikes and the hot springs. Super lush area, a bit out of Taipei city. Gotta try those big dumplings down the road toward the train station, they’re mad - I’ll attach a pic.

Verified reviewIt was not my first time. The hostel is great, but this time I was in a small room which do not have windows. It depends on airconditioner to give aer from a small hall.
Since you booked a top bunk in the female dormitory with windows, we’d like to inform you that the ladder in that room is a vertical one. Considering your physical condition and safety, we have arranged a top bunk with a staircase-style ladder for you instead. We hope every guest can rest well and safely, and start their journey feeling refreshed—ready to discover more beautiful moments along the way. Wishing you a pleasant trip and all the best in everything :)

Verified reviewLovely and cozy hostel. Staff very friendly, made us some food one night for the lantern festival, also the volunteers who were there were happy to socialize and share their knowledge. Clean and good curtains, strong wifi, good hangout spot both on ground level and basement. Breakfast is bread and spreads which is a simple way to get a start on the day, but also you’re in Taiwan, it’s literally famous for its breakfasts so you should be going out!!

Verified reviewNice and clean hostel with very friendly staff.
The sofas in the common room were old and damaged. We were expecting more from such an expensive hostel.
Thank you for visiting Beitou and choosing to stay at On My Way Taipei. We are a hostel that has been open for 10 years, and it's true that our in-room amenities are not our strongest point. However, in terms of room size (the 6-person room you stayed in would accommodate at least 8 beds in many hostels in Taipei), the proportion of public space (both the first floor and basement are public areas), and the provision of a luggage elevator to assist with luggage transport, we strive to provide guests with a better accommodation experience." We wish you a happy trip and that everything goes well :)

Verified reviewI stayed in three hostels during my trip to Taiwan, Vietnam, and Cambodia. ON MY WAY was the best. It was good deal and also triple the price of the other two. Yes, "You get what you pay for." What did the higher price bring? A wonderfully stocked kitchenif you cook. Plenty of toilets and showers and no lines to use them. Beds with good curtains lights and electric outlets. Large bedrooms so that we could move easily in the rooms. Two different meeting places to discuss things with other travelers. Things all the hostels had in common - fast Internet, friendly staff, and great locations. There was an eclectic mix of nationalities of the guests, including several Japanese college students on break. The hostel is located a good 20 minutes away from many of the sights of downtown Taipei and is in the Beitou neighborhood. If you are heading to Taipei's premier hot spring location, it is perfectly located. Besides the hot spring area about a ten minute walk away, there are local museums, several local night and morning markets, and plenty of shopping within walking distance. Try the morning street markets. Download the metro Taipei transportation app; the hostel is near multiple bus stops that will take you to downtown and the major night markets. Or you could just ride the subway from Beitou Station. I like the buses more than the subways because I like to see the local streets and traffic. I spent four nights and five days here and would gladly stay here again.
I had no complaints about this place. Tips for ON MY WAY. Walking up the street from the Beitou station, ON MY WAY is on the right side of the road. The address is No. 82 Guangming Road. The hostel sign is hard to see from the sidewalk and the hostel front looks like any other storefront on Guangming Road, so look for the green address numbers as they are not on every storefront. When you get around No. 75 or so, start looking more closely. If you walk past a multistory large police station on the left side of the road, you have walked just a bit too far - but note its location because it is a good landmark close to the hostel.

Verified reviewFor the price it offers a lot. The first floor and basement provide good dining and socializing space.
My bed smelled really bad when I checked in. Like someone who hasn't showered in weeks. At night people were making enough noise to wake me up a few times.
Thank you for your evaluation and experience sharing~ Regarding the issue of bed odor, after checking, we have confirmed that the mattresses and pillows have no unusual smells. It may be due to the higher occupancy during weekends, resulting in body odors. If you are particularly sensitive to smells, you may consider booking a double room for your next stay. Although we ask each guest to read the accommodation rules carefully at check-in and post reminders on each room door, not every traveler can comply. Since a hostel is a shared space for travelers, mutual respect is essential. We also strive to remind each guest to lower their volume after 10 PM and utilize the 24-hour common space on B1. However, there are still occasional guests who do not respect their roommates. While it's a bit disheartening, we will continue to make efforts. Additionally, for guests who are slightly sensitive to noise, we provide earplugs at the front desk and on each floor. Welcome back when you have time ^ ^ We wish you a happy trip and that everything goes well :)
