Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNice cheap hostel that's very close to the national park in north Taipei, also close to the city (20min train). Staff were friendly and facilities were very well kept, had a great kitchen too. It's a more quiet hostel (which some might prefer) so not really for travellers looking for social hostel events.

AustraliaGreat little hostel that has everything you need. Best thing is that it’s near heaps of hikes and the hot springs. Super lush area, a bit out of Taipei city. Gotta try those big dumplings down the road toward the train station, they’re mad - I’ll attach a pic.

United StatesLovely and cozy hostel. Staff very friendly, made us some food one night for the lantern festival, also the volunteers who were there were happy to socialize and share their knowledge. Clean and good curtains, strong wifi, good hangout spot both on ground level and basement. Breakfast is bread and spreads which is a simple way to get a start on the day, but also you’re in Taiwan, it’s literally famous for its breakfasts so you should be going out!!

JapanI had no complaints about this place. Tips for ON MY WAY. Walking up the street from the Beitou station, ON MY WAY is on the right side of the road. The address is No. 82 Guangming Road. The hostel sign is hard to see from the sidewalk and the hostel front looks like any other storefront on Guangming Road, so look for the green address numbers as they are not on every storefront. When you get around No. 75 or so, start looking more closely. If you walk past a multistory large police station on the left side of the road, you have walked just a bit too far - but note its location because it is a good landmark close to the hostel.
I stayed in three hostels during my trip to Taiwan, Vietnam, and Cambodia. ON MY WAY was the best. It was good deal and also triple the price of the other two. Yes, "You get what you pay for." What did the higher price bring? A wonderfully stocked kitchenif you cook. Plenty of toilets and showers and no lines to use them. Beds with good curtains lights and electric outlets. Large bedrooms so that we could move easily in the rooms. Two different meeting places to discuss things with other travelers. Things all the hostels had in common - fast Internet, friendly staff, and great locations. There was an eclectic mix of nationalities of the guests, including several Japanese college students on break. The hostel is located a good 20 minutes away from many of the sights of downtown Taipei and is in the Beitou neighborhood. If you are heading to Taipei's premier hot spring location, it is perfectly located. Besides the hot spring area about a ten minute walk away, there are local museums, several local night and morning markets, and plenty of shopping within walking distance. Try the morning street markets. Download the metro Taipei transportation app; the hostel is near multiple bus stops that will take you to downtown and the major night markets. Or you could just ride the subway from Beitou Station. I like the buses more than the subways because I like to see the local streets and traffic. I spent four nights and five days here and would gladly stay here again.

United StatesMy bed smelled really bad when I checked in. Like someone who hasn't showered in weeks. At night people were making enough noise to wake me up a few times.
For the price it offers a lot. The first floor and basement provide good dining and socializing space.

TaiwanIt is not that I don't like it; I just must say if you have some injury, you will need to go up; there is no elevator for people. However, they will put you on the 1st floor probably. Maybe curtains can be cleaned and better hung for beds and curtains at the window.
The staff is great, and even if they do not have the best English, they try to help through Google Translate. The owner is coming here and there, and he is very nice to everyone and the staff. It was Chinese New Year, and he prepared some food for the people who stayed. The hostel has a small elevator just for heavy luggage. Bigger rooms have big windows with a net for mosquitos. The street is quite quiet during the night. There are so many hot springs 10 min a walk near Beitou Park, and in the hotel, they show you an English list of hot springs, addresses, and prices. Washing and bringing the machine works well.

JapanNo complaints!
I stayed here on the day that I went hiking in Yangmingshan National Park. The hostel is in a great location for accessing both the metro and the southwest part of the national park, as well as the Beitou hot springs. I liked that there was a space for air drying laundry. Everything was very clean and comfortable.

AustraliaOnly thing I didn't like was the bed, very thin foam, so it felt like I was sleeping on the floor.
Very friendly and helpful staff, I was able to leave my luggage overnight for a small fee as I was going to Yilan for one night. They thought of everything, including vending machines in case you need a charger, free breakfast and mini escalator for your luggage. Great location, right next to the markets, so plenty of food choices. Also very walkable distance to the hot springs. Close to the MRT.
