Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ThailandThe neighborhood on the way from the train station to this hotel looks quite run down. I felt a bit on edge walking through this neighborhood on the first night we arrived.
I booked this hotel because of its proximity to the bus terminal. It’s only 5 minutes walk. A lot of convenient store nearby. The staff is nice and helpful. the room is clean and in a good size.

Hong KongThe bathroom design is somewhat poor: 1. Water overflowed from the bath area to the toilet area; 2. Hot water (and low hot water pressure) was not hot enough for winter.
The hotel is conveniently located near the Taichung Train Station (~10min walk) and Taichung Bus station (~5min walk). The room we stayed in (Superior twin room) was spacious and clean.

Indonesia- The room is small so it's a little bit a hassle to open 2 big luggages. - The design is very basic, not like in the picture. But it's clean. - We chose a room with window, but what we got is just a small glass screen at the upper side of the wall, not a full window.
- The staff can speak english and very hospitable. - Not too far from bus stop and if you plan to go to the night market, Yizhong night market is nearby, just 10 minutes walk. - There's a toilet with bidet in the reception area. But the one in the room don't have bidet. - You can put your bagage in reception before your check in time.

AustriaWhen I arrived drenched in sweat and a little exhausted from carrying my luggage on my back on a very warm and humid day, one of the cleaning ladies in front of my room said sth to me. When I did not understand immediately (I don't speak Taiwanese), she pulled at the armpits and back of my shirt to make a joke (in kind, I believe) about how sweaty I was which I personally find inappropriate. Also, I would have preferred privacy and not be "jumped at" from behind (I did not see her at first) in a dark corridor to be told that I am gross the moment I open the door to a room to place my belongings inside, especially if it is clear that I have had a long journey. Also, cleaning staff seemed to have a lot to discuss in front of my room and might have had their staff room directly opposite and I could hear the noise for around 30mins which felt as if cleaning staff was about to barge into the room at any moment which made me wait with taking the shower...
Very interesting boho boutique design of rooms and lobby. I liked that my room was compact, yet had everything I needed in terms of furniture, accessories and even things like slippers and, in the corridor, a tea and coffee station. It was centrally located, within 10-15min walking distance of the train station, Miyahara ice cream shop and the night market. The lady at reception was very helpful, thank you!

New ZealandThe bathroom has some obvious flaws, the doors have no way to be kept open so are always in the way and also the one near the toilet hits the toilet which is very annoying to navigate. There is no toilet roll, just a tissue box which is low and hard to access and the tissues always jam. There needs to be another towel rail on the wall and also the water is not hot enough, just luke warm. There is no housekeeping which is not ideal for a cleanliness perspective and bins are not emptied or the floor cleaned, we stayed 3 nights and wouldn’t want to stay much longer. The elevators have no key swipe so really anyone could access the hotel hallways, low security. Also there is no 24 hour reception. After 9pm reception is closed and it’s just a guy who sits outside who we assume to be some kind of security maybe. The hallways are very hot even though they have fans out. There are no usb plugs in the room.
The location of the hotel is very close to the train and bus station, as well as nice restaurants within 10 minutes and a few sites to see. The staff are very enthusiastic and friendly. The wifi was 80% of the time very good. They have little snacks available and a water dispenser and no disposable amenities in the room which is great. There is no housekeeping so that is good from an environmental perspective. Self service laundry is good (although not very clean). The property is newly renovated so things are quite nice for now.

SingaporeRoom layout was too bare, not a lot of amenities at all, definitely can be improved. The room looks good on photos but the design of where the drainage was in the bathroom causes the entire bathroom to be wet when you take a shower. Value could be better for the room prices.

New ZealandWe came to check-in in the morning and then mention that all the rooms are dirty and we couldn’t check in early which was okay. On checking in in the evening both the rooms that were we booked was heavily smelling of cigarette smoke and we were told that the room is completed on smoking and then when we ask Tim mention that the room has been empty for a week so should not be smelling even though it was smelling and then went up there and good smell it however in the morning they did mention to us that there was no room available but since the room was not used, they could have given us in the morning which they didn’t also we asked them for extra pillows and they said they will see and Will only be able to give but not confirm and been there again and then finally they gave us one because they only put two pillows for two people and initially lied that they are no pillows. The housekeeper was quite friendly and tried to help us finding another room. The rooms are also very small and they’re not properly cleaned.

SwitzerlandThere was no information provided that my room would be without the window. This ruined my whole stay as I work online and had to spend my whole work day in the 'dungeon' with artificial light. This needs to be clearly mentioned at the booking. There is a very bad noise insulation as I could hear all the noises at the corridor. Very late check in, but thankfully I was allowed to check in early (thanks for that!)
Hotel was very modern, it smelled so nice at the reception! Bed was comfortable, and bathroom was new and with great facilities.

I am not sure why there are poor reviews. I have stayed in many hotels and this was excellent and great value. The rooms were clean and spacious. I had no issues with the sound. There is a smart TV in the room which is a bonus. Pantry with hot water/ filtered water machine in the corridor. Convenient location within 10 minute walking distance from Taichung station. Wifi worked well in the rooms. Duvet, towels, and sheets were all very clean and comfortable.
