Dear Corazon, Thank you so much for your kind review and for letting us know about the issue with the hair dryer. We’re very sorry that it didn’t provide hot air as expected and made your experience less comfortable. After receiving your feedback, we immediately checked the hair dryers and found that one of them was indeed malfunctioning. We have already replaced it with a brand-new unit. Normally, it should definitely blow hot air, and the other one was working properly during our inspection. We truly appreciate your helpful comment, and we’re so glad you enjoyed the privacy and comfort of our female bunkbed.

Since our guesthouse is a designated cultural heritage site, any renovations or changes must go through a government approval process, which takes time. Since our guesthouse is a designated cultural heritage site, any renovations or changes must go through a government approval process, which takes time. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the bathroom. As the building is quite old, we are currently waiting for approval to renovate the bathroom flooring. Once approved, we will proceed with the upgrades to ensure better comfort and hygiene for all our guests. We sincerely feel sorry that your late-night check-in did not provide you with a fully comfortable experience. Thank you very much for your kind understanding. As a self-service guesthouse designed for backpackers, we need everytone to help maintain a comfortable shared environment together. The female dormitory accommodates up to 10 guests, and while we have a larger trash bin located on the balcony outside, it is possible for the bins to fill up quickly when fully booked. Since our property operates without 24-hour staffing to respect guests’ privacy and ensure everyone’s rest time, our team replaces and refreshes the trash bins during daytime working hours. If any assistance is needed, always welcome to contact us via phone our official Line account, and we will do our best to respond as quickly as possible. Thank you again for choosing 1954 and for your thoughtful feedback. We’re happy to know that you enjoyed the beds and amenities, and we’d like to sincerely respond to the points you mentioned. Regarding bathroom cleanliness, we actually carry out scheduled cleaning three times a day, but as our property is not staffed 24/7, we may not always be able to check every facility immediately. We’ve also encountered cases where toilets became clogged without guests notifying us, resulting in an unpleasant experience for the next user — which is definitely something we try hard to avoid. As bathrooms are shared public spaces, we kindly ask for everyone’s cooperation in keeping them clean, and if any issues arise, please feel free to inform us right away. During our staff’s working hours, we’ll do our best to assist as quickly as possible. As for the bed length, we totally understand your concern. Even among our own team — one is a 160 cm tall woman and the others 170 cm men — we do sometimes feel the beds are a bit short. However, because the building is a government-owned heritage property, we’re not allowed to alter the room layouts or furniture sizes. Since taking over the space on March 1st, we’ve been applying for basic facility upgrades and hope to gradually improve the guest experience. Thank you again for your understanding. Just to share a bit more: This guesthouse has been under new management since March 1, 2025, and we're continually working to improve the experience for all our guests. We're glad to hear that you found our beds comfortable and appreciated the laundry service and value for money. 😊 This guesthouse is located near Taipei Bridge MRT Station (台北橋捷運站), which is on the Orange Line. From here, it's only about 10–15 minutes by MRT or Taxi to Taipei Main Station, so it’s convenient to reach central Taipei, even if we're slightly outside the busiest downtown area. We appreciate your stay and hope to welcome you again in the future!

As noted on our booking and property pages, our guest house is located within a government-protected cultural park, and due to preservation guidelines, certain facilities—such as bathrooms—are limited in how much they can be modified or relocated. We do our best to maintain cleanliness and comfort within these constraints. Our space is designed in a backpacker/shared style, which naturally involves staying with other travelers. While this setup allows for social interaction and affordability, we understand that it might not be ideal for light sleepers, especially when unexpected noise occurs. Regarding your comment about the bed length, we truly understand your concern. As our guesthouse is located within a government-designated cultural preservation zone, the original structure of the building must be maintained according to strict regulations. This limits our ability to modify room layouts, including bed sizes and other spatial arrangements. We sincerely appreciate your understanding on this matter. As for the distance from the MRT, the guesthouse is about a 10–15 minute walk from the nearest station. While we’re not in the city center, we aim to offer a quiet, affordable stay in a historic military village—providing guests a rare opportunity to experience Taiwan’s cultural heritage up close.
