Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe duvet was filthy and the cover for it was so shredded that I couldn't use it to cover the duvet. If you scroll through the tv channels, it takes you from local shows to hardcore porn (I have nothing against hardcore porn but it could be embarrassing depending on who your are staying with!.
The location. It's within more or less everything, and only 5 minutes from the airport train.

FranceIt is a cheap hotel. Cleanliness is not great (bed and bathroom are okay, the rest less), you hear the noise from the (busy) street, the appliances are old. But it's nothing more nothing less than I expected. It's a good hotel for a poor student on vacation. Just don't go eating on the floors or looking under the bed and it will be perfectly fine for a couple of days to a week.
It is a cheap motel with a convenient location. The staff was nice, friendly and spoke a good english, which is always nice

CanadaThe sink would leak from the bottom and the tap sprayed (they fixed the spray though). There was some mild in the bathroom and when you would look under the bed it was about a centimetre of dust accumulation. It looked as though the bed had not been moved in a decade.
It was great location and accessible enough for my partner who was on crutches. The bed was comfortable too.

AustraliaNo staff in attendance on arrival, and then not being able to check in at 15:00 as stated. They had some idea I'd requested a 9pm check-in! Why would I??! .. when I'm landing at 12:30. It was possibly a booking.com glitch.. yeah, let's say that. Anyway, NMFH said 8pm check-in so I left my bag there and trundled off to Ximen to check the scene.
The best thing about New May Flower Hotel is it's close to Taipei Main Station and there's a 7-11 next door. I also liked having a fridge in my room and how quickly the lift arrived when requesting it.

PortugalIt’s an old hotel, so the rooms are a bit outdated. But being the price it is, it really didn’t bother me that much. I’m used to old Taiwanese hotels but maybe is not everyone’s cup of tea.
This hotel it’s very close to Taipei MRT, which makes it a great choice if you are travelling with a lot of luggage. The bathroom was very big and had a bathtub. Great price for central Taipei.

United KingdomThe hotel looks very shabby, quite rough around the edges. I think it needs a bit of renovation to make it look more modern, and I think that would easily push it into the 3* hotel category. The hotelier didn't speak English, but he was very quick at typing on his phone and using Google Translate - I don't have an issue with that. The guy was pleasant and seemed happy to help. But no doubt some travellers would prefer an actual English speaker. The room didn't come with proper bath towels - instead, it comes supplied with what look like disposable thin cotton 'towels' in a shrink-wrapped packet. A bit odd, but I think it's forgiveable at this price bracket!
I wasn't expecting much because this is definitely a budget hotel. It's considered a 2* hotel, which is about right - but in fact, in terms of comfort, I think it punches a little above its weight. A good room rate for a great location, as it's very easy to find straight out of Taipei main station. The room I got actually had 2 single beds in it, even though I only needed a room to myself - and either a single or double would've been fine, so no complaints there. I was pleasantly surprised that a budget 2* room would have a massive TV in it! There was also a fridge and even a safe! Another surprise was that the outlets have been modernised to accept USB cables, something I did not expect from a budget hotel.

AustraliaAs soon as we check in they allocate us to very dodgy room (Room number 611). As soon as opened the door; I saw house lizard on the wall. Room is dirty and smell is bad. Even there was no bath tower provided. When I asked the receptionist; she said use the tiny tower to dried the body. After stay for 2 days and come back from walk; there was a lot of smelly sewage leaking from the above floor. We complained to nearby staff the someone (may be their boss) come and check this issue and then allocate to another room (Room number 612) which is ten times better than 611. What a nightmare. Next time if I visit Taipei again; never ever go to New May Flower Hotel. My big mistake which I ever made.
No breakfast is available with rude staff. Just location is great; just close to Taipei Main Station with near by shops.
