How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

This place is exceptionally clean and cosy, well exceeded our expectations. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They assisted my parents with check in prior to my arrival and promptly introduced the neighbourhood and facilities. We were greeted with the warmest welcome. Uber is not as developed here in Hualien so the staff has tirelessly helped us with booking taxis to our destination. I cannot recommend Hualien enough as a city which you see the gorgeous central mountain range at every turn when you walk on the street. I highly recommend you visit Homie B&B as a convenient base to explore this beautiful city.

EVERYTHING! The host was so kind and welcoming. The property was beautiful, so clean. Free snacks available to try! The host was so helpful in organising taxi’s for us.

we had 2 rooms (XL & L) and stayed 4 nights and everything was amazing! the rooms are beautiful, very clean, nice bathroom and towels, very comfortable bed, good aircon. we also had a fridge in the room. staff is incredible friendly. water, coffee, tea, snacks and even noodle soups are for free, very generous. you can use the kitchen and fridge in the very nice comun area. internet was fast. the also gave us mooncake the day of the moonfestival, so kind. in the middle of the center and also very close to the nightmarket. 5min by bus to the trainstation. we can highly recommend the place.

The bathroom smelt a bit think it’s probably the pipes. It’s hard to get taxis so you need to find a way to book them in advance. Ours didn’t arrive so we had to walk to the next hotel.
Location was great, close to the night market and some great bars, food places and stores. We booked a quad room for 2 people which was fine, but can we a bit of a squeeze for luggage. We loved the common kitchen where there was free flow snacks and pot noodles. Really nice space to hang out.

The room is so nice. The shower is very nice. Location is great, walking distance to the market, shopping street. There were plenty food and snacks for guest in the kitchen.

No hot water in the bathroom wash basin tap. Only hot water in shower.
Best decorated B&B I've stayed over the world so far. Very quiet room even though the windows face the small street. A lot of comfy spots on the ground and first floor to stay to read or chat if you have leisure time. Comfortable bed and pillows.

there was construction early in the morning at the time of stay. the cleanliness of one of the bathrooms did not meet expectations. one of the bedroom pillows also revealed a dead bug when turning down for the night which is not a pleasant experience.
location was close to night market and relatively easy parking. a very nice variety of snacks available and host was accomodating, hospitable and helpful.

Regrettably, my stay at the hotel was marred by a very bad soundproofing. Sleep, an essential aspect of any hotel experience, was compromised as conversations and activities from neighboring room infiltrated my room with disconcerting clarity throughout the night.
Very clean. Comfortable bed and shower. Got upgraded to a bigger room during check in.

a little difficult to contact host initially as we arrived before our check-in time of 3:30pm, wanted to drop off our bags to walk around the city. luckily the cleaning lady saw us outside the b&b and contacted the host for us, but we still had to wait 30 minutes in the lobby area.
good b&b in downtown Hualien, convenient location, walking distance to night market and beach and many restaurants in area, taxi ride ~130NT from train station. clean room, free snacks/water in common area.
