How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe had the room with the mountain view with the big windows. The bed was huge and nice and soft. We especially loved the staff. Everyone was so sweet, even though we had to communicate with google translate. All good!
We rented a scooter from Hualien Station. We recommend to have a motorbike or car cause its kinda far from everything. We personally loved being a bit more outside of the town and seeing the more peaceful local life here.

Verified reviewSpacious, very good beds, clean. Elevator is good to carry luggage up to the 2nd. floor.
Few details. There is no commercial parking nearby, and street parking is challenging. It is surprising that a building permit was given for a hotel with no car parking. Likewise, shower and toilet have a big untinted glass window facing the street (shades available but cumbersome). Slow internet in our room. Finally, a step from your bed to the toilet, hazardous when dark for an old man like myself.

Verified reviewVery nice room
Far away from the city center. Staff don’t speak English and they could be friendlier

Verified review- The entire property was clean and nicely furnished - The host was friendly and accommodating - The rooms were clean, bright, and offered at a great price - Everything was provided (towels, toiletries, tissues, coffee and tea, earplugs, insect repellent, water dispensers, etc.) - The roof terrace was lovely and peaceful, and offered decent views - The property is located on the outskirts of Hualien City (the township has mountainsides, a seashore, and a wide plain) - The neighbourhood is friendly (do support the breakfast place down the road, across Ji'an Junior High School!) - Stayed here for a month, completely enjoyed it, and will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Hualien (what more is there to say!)
- The location is somewhat secluded (having a motorbike, car, or bicycle is definitely recommended) - Certain toilets may have a sewer smell occasionally - The rooms were not completely soundproof (though it wasn't really an issue)

Verified reviewThe decor was neutral and tasteful. For a budget hotel they did a great job. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. It was a few kilometres out of Ji’an close to the mountain. Taxi’s were easy to call with the staff help. The hotel was mostly quiet and relaxing and we were pleased to be out of Ji’an with its traffic and flashing neon signs. The hotel is eco friendly and doesn’t provide plastic water bottles but has a water filter in reception and a thermos jug in the room. The roof terrace is lovely and peaceful with good views and comfortable lounging furniture. The price was great.
The only issue was some very loud banging noises after midnight. This only happened on our last night but it woke us both.

Verified reviewThe reception staff is considerate and welcoming. The room and bed is very clean although the room is not very sound proof. Fortunately they also provide ear-pods for sleeping well . I love the outdoor area in floor 7 , I brought some fruits and sat on the bar table , enjoyed the green and the mountain in rural area, made me feel very relaxed , it's a good place for solo travel.
the room could be more sound proof

Verified reviewWe thought this place was really beautiful, and very decent and affordable for the cost. We appreciated the considerate details such as mosquito repellant, and top up tea and coffee section. The rooms were stylish, and we received an upgrade to a larger room with a Mountain View. Would totally come to stay again!
It was quite far from the main centre so a scooter or car is useful if you are staying here. The upside to this is sleeping in a quiet environment and waking up to birdsong.
