Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyHotel should be modernized
Slightly older hotel but the room was fine. Clean and spacious. Needs a bit of renovation (wallpapers for example) but I enjoyed my stay anyway. Nice view. Internet / wifi was ok. The hotel had a laundry room with washers and dryers. Location of the hotel is great too. Convenience stores, restaurants, a mall and food market are nearby.

JapanThe room smelled like smoke too much even though it was supposed to be a non-smoking room. The room was too cold because the heater didn't work. The shower head was weird like it scattered water 180 degrees.
The price was good. The room was sufficiently large. The room wifi speed was good.

IrelandBreakfast was not included but this was not clear when booking. I found it expensive for the what I got compared to other parts of Taiwan and also other similar countries. With the same rate, I would expect more modern rooms, breakfast and a swimming pool at least. I suppose Hsinchu is the most expensive city in Taiwan.
Location close to eateries, shopping and train station

PolandEquipment and the furniture in the room is quite old. Everything had marks or stains on it but it wasn't very bad since everything was really clean. At first I was disappointed when I entered the room, I saw the stains everywhere, the night stands, desk, floor but after few minutes I realized that these ones can't be removed without replacing the items and everything indeed was clean, just slightly used up / old.
Beautiful hotel in an ideal location. Less than 10 min of walk to the main train station, surrounded by beautiful parks, museums, shops, restaurants, temples and more. Unique architecture with many unique details, for example 5 floors tall breakfast room with windows on the ceiling. Rooms are very quiet and clean. Everything was working perfect, the lights, fridge, WiFi, air-conditioning, etc. Easy and comfortable 24h check-in, super fast check-out. Thanks to three elevators, you never wait longer than few seconds to go up or down.

TaiwanVery old building and you can tell it deserves to be renovated. The level of humidity at the hotel was totally unexpected, dehumidifiers seriously needed. Underwhelming breakfast although the hot plates and vegetables are very much appreciated. Coffee is far from good. The price of the room is doing the above justice though, it's ok if all you need is somewhere to stay close to the train station for one night.
Location, size of the room and the bathtub. Good view overlooking the city. Close to family mart.

DenmarkThe room was in a terrible state, room on the 13th floor. Everything is worn out, the room smells very bad of years of smoking (even it is a non smoking room) - and the air in there is so horrible that my nose and throat instantly had a allergic reaction, running nose, irritated throat - like hayfever symptoms. I tried to sleep with a mask 😷 - it helped a tiny bit. As soon as I got out in the fresh air after checking out next day I already felt better. Never experienced a room like this before. Using the AC didn't make any difference. Bed is also old, and even it was king size, it was two single mattresses and you easily feel that, no decent top matress. All the wood, wallpaper, carpets, furniture etc. is in such a bad state. The lamps by bed spins around if you touch them gently, and almost drops off the wall. Bathroom: toilet seems to have some "left overs" which wasn't cleaned properly. Photo attached. Tub had clear signs from cigarettes being smoked there maybe decades ago.. Elevators has broken displays, doesn't always show which floor you are on. I stayed in very nice "Guide Hotel" before in Kaohsiung and Taichung, with great value for money - but this room was not worth NTD 2900 for a night, wouldn't even pay half. It ruins the "Guide Hotel" brand as I experienced it before, and this hotel should have a total renovation done before opening up for visitors.
Staff was super friendly and nice Location is great, nearby the famous east gate, the city hall and Hsinchu train station. "Big City" mall nearby too. .. BUT can NOT recommend this hotel! ⚠️
