Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe hotel seems a little dated and due to the nature of our room (Japanese style), it wasn't so comfortable. However we had a nice experience and wonderful stay there. More frequent shuttle buses would be helpful.
-Excellent customer service from all staff members -Fantastic outdoor hot spring pools -Complimentary drinks, snacks and flip flops -Lovely breakfast

IrelandThe location isn't the most convenient. There aren't many restaurants nearby, and the nearest metro stations are a bit far (though the hotel does run a free shuttle bus roughly once an hour). Personally, I'd recommend staying here to use the hot springs, but not as a base for exploring other parts of Taipei.
The hot spring pools were amazing. Nice variation between them, with different temperatures and bubbles etc. It was also lovely to have a private hot spring bath in my room. The room was spacious and a nice temperature.

United StatesThe wifi password changes every day, which is a little frustrating. The pillows were not very comfortable.
Great place to stay! Very kind staff, and the shuttle from Beitou MRT is so helpful. The rooms are nice and spacious, and the tub is wonderful, especially with the views. The hot springs themselves are a lot of fun - nice variety and it was never too crowded

AustraliaThe furniture in the guestroom are old style, dated with clearly visible wear and tear. The breakfast has plenty of choices (mostly Asian style) but was not tasty. What disturbed me was that they called a normal steam bun with a thick white skin and dry pork filing (no soup) “xiao long bao” which gave me the filling of being cheated (every single person in Taiwan including the tourist should know what the real xiao long bao looks like. The Japanese restaurant is ok in term of food quality but super overpriced. Sometimes I have to ask twice for things to be done properly.
This is a reasonable resort if you come with the kids as they have child friendly hot spring while many other hotel/resort only let the adults using them. The hotspring facility is well run and maintained. We love the hot spring pools. Recommended for those that come with children. The other thing we love is the bathroom inside our room with a large and deep marble bath tub with a hotspring water tap. I love having my own private hotspring soak everyday I stayed at the hotel (and so do the children).

First thing is they attached the maintenance notice at the shuttle bus stop next to MRT Xinbeitou. That notice has mentioned about the purpose, the usage time of room service, restaurant, outdoor spring and shuttle. Another thing is their large outdoor spring area. They offer lots of different temp and SPA under security control. The other is their ecology. You could find the cicada during the breakfast time. How lucky an insect living at the good environment like that.

PhilippinesThere is only one switch for all the lights inside the room. It should have at least separate switches for each light so we can switch off the lights that we don't want to use during sleeping.
We liked the private hot spring inside the room.

Hong KongHaving stayed in it for a many times in over a decade, I find the provision of breakfast, both in terms of quality and quantity, tumbles down in standard. In short, patrons usually spend about 20 to 25 minutes when having breakfast, a bit like eating fast food (one striking example is its meagre provision of fruits, which Taiwan is famed for). Besides, the chance of switching to a Japanese breakfast (with a surcharge) has also been scrapped, which is a pity.
Its spa facilities are unique and super! A quiet and peaceful environment. Ample opening time (9am - 10pm) for enjoying the spa, which is tremendously convenient and heartwarming for its patrons.

Hong KongVery limited vegetarian (and no eggs and dairy) options for breakfast. Only went once and did not go again for the other 3 days. Had pot noodle in bedroom instead. Chef was nice to make one veg noodles dish for us, shame we could not just take that to our room to eat it slowly, had to waste most of it as we were very tired in the morning. We were told we cannot take buffet food out of the restaurant, but on this occasion where the buffet is closing time and the nearly only thing we could have was the plate of noodles the chef made for us especially. We feel they could be a bit kinder on this occasion. So we did not bother using the other 3 days breakfast vouchers as it was a waste of effort to just go down for plain congee. Feels more like a 3.5-4 star hotel due to this point, and not a 5 star hotel.
To have a relaxing, pampering break with Hot spring in the room was the main reason for booking. Hot spring in room achieved the main point of staying here.

SingaporeMosquitoes in the outdoor onsens. They were relentless. Our room was also small despite saying that it can fit 4 people but in reality it would be more fitting for 2 pax instead. It was just 1 tatami living room (which 4 of us had to sleep on) and a toilet. Very underwhelming tbh. Television was also not a smart tv so it was boring and we couldn’t watch netflix or disney.
Breakfast spread was the best (passable) thing out of our entire stay.
