How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe customer service was excellent... staff made us feel welcome and comfortable. The food at the in-house restaurant was fantastic. Very relaxing and peaceful atmosphere with a good view of Las Cuevas. I'd definitely recommend this lodge. Good value for money!

Verified reviewA little gem of a hotel in a most beautiful location. The staff give an extremely warm reception, they are super friendly, very helpful and very knowledgeable about the area and what can be done…..if they didn’t know, they knew someone who does. For example, they arranged a night watching the turtles and a guide to walk some local waterfalls. The food was out of this world, fresh and local produce cooked by chefs who’ve been cooking their whole life.

Dear Guest, we are surprised by your comments and will not accept this review as you got the standard room very cheap on booking.com and you did not even stay on the premises for the duration of your stay. In fact you brought your own food and was very rude and isolated for your entire one night stay. To say the least you seem very highly suspicious as we looked at your information and your address and name never showed up when we searched up your information after your review. We also learnt you paid in U.S and did not want anything or to be disturbed. To say the least, your review is false and we will be taking up the matter with booking.com. Verified reviewThe Owner was miserable and grumpy. The hotel locked its doors at 9.00pm, ridiculous in this day and age, especially as people go there to watch Leatherback Turtles which only come onto the beach at night. The shower broke and overflowed and in the replacement room the toilet was blocked.

Verified reviewThis lodge is right across the street from a wonderful Las Cuevas beach. Very comfortable location if you want just to rest and enjoy the beach. As for dinner options there is practically no choice and the same - for taxi. You need to be prepared and have your taxi driver to arrange a ride. The couple that owns the lodge is just wonderful! They were so friendly and helpful, tried to arrange everything we needed! Very nice staff! The bed in the room was surprisingly comfortable! And the open terrace area is comfortable to hang out.
This is more likely a hostel than a hotel. We had a big room with a sea view but honestly all the room with all the furniture, towels and the bathroom needs a total renovation. It is so dated and I think they clean it before the clients, but it’s now almost impossible to get it clean … And I would suggest to put at least a small shower gel in the bathroom, if nothing else… And the breakfast - it was so little and poor.. we had to ask literally for everything - for some slices of tomato and cucumber, for butter.. Not to stay hungry for the whole day. But the hosts were really helpful and friendly- they tried to help us with the little things they had. Actually if you come prepared for all this and you have a car, it’s a good place to stay.

The room had a moldy scent and my sinus was attacking me other than that the breakfast should have something for ppl who have allergies etc should have a standard menu of some sort... However the upside is they did make something for me cuz I couldn't eat the eggs or cheese

Verified reviewI like the fact that the place was air-conditioned they had cable TV, hot water, a fridge, the bed and pillows were very comfortable, there was a dryer in the toilet. Also the toilet and bathroom was very spacious. And it was very close to the beach.
The room didn't have a microwave, the fridge could've been on a height. Like a stool or shelf.
