Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The staff and hotel were excellent. We also had a great view of the waterfront from our room. The receptionist was amazing providing off with a lot of valuable information about areas to check out in the city and how to get there. We really enjoyed our stay.

AustraliaRoom was a bit small and the breakfast was not as good as some of the other places we have stayed recently.
Great location, close to the major attractions such as the mosques, Topkapi Palace and Basilica Cistern. Also many restaurants and shops in the vicinity. Very friendly and helpful staff. Our room was comfortable and had a great view to the Bosphorous.

United StatesThe only downside is that the electric doesn't work unless the key is in, which means when you return to your room on a hot day the room is very hot until the A/C can cool it down. This makes it a little uncomfortable for about 20 minutes or so. We understand however that if they didn't regulate that people would run the A/C's all day.
Prime location on the European side of Istanbul. 5 minute walk to Hagia Sofia and the Blue Mosque. 15-20 min walk to the bridge to take you across the water to the other side. Huge breakfast buffet and we liked how they changed the menu every day. Coffee/tea available nearly all day. The rooms were nice and clean and the beds were very comfortable. The staff were very friendly they checked in on us before our arrival and helped us with airport transport. They also helped us get the sunset boat trip. We opted for the non-dinner cruise which was only 20 euro (as opposed to around 60 euro). It was perfect for what we wanted and a great experience.

FinlandThe hotel facilities aren’t that new, you can see it in the bathroom (shower). Also, our luck : door key was broken and it took 2 days to replace it, but they did their best.
Exceptional stuff! Very friendly , polite and helpful! Thank you! Also we had a stunning Bosphorus view from our room. Breakfast was alright, and beverages were for free during the day.

AustraliaNo 1: The staff at Sultan Hamit were wonderful - friendly - thoughtful - and very professional. 10/10 No 2: We loved the breakfast room / afternoon break room where we could help ourselves to an array of drinks & snacks. The hotel kindly allowed our daughter to visit us ( she was in a nearby hotel) and we could enjoy precious time together. No. 3: Location fabulous - so near to the historical sites but yet quiet & slightly back from the crowds. Loved coming back to our room after a day out in the heat , to find freshly stocked bottled water too. Also: a hotel lift is a wonderful thing when you are exhausted!

DenmarkWe loved our stay at the sultan hamit hotel! The hotel was clean and the staff very helpful and welcoming, especially Enes, who worked at the reception. Also the hotel was located very close to all major turist attractions, but still a bit away from all the hustle and bustle, and therefore not too noisy. We would definetely recommend staying here if you’re going to Istanbul.

RomaniaThe terrace in front of the hotel needs to be cleaned more often. It would be a very nice place if cleaned! The AC in the restaurant was not turned on during snack time and it got really hot inside and also no cold water during snack time (water is provided in the minifridge from the room, but not and snack time).
Location is great, just a few steps (literally) to Hagia Sophia’s entrance to visiting area and also to Topkapi Palace, so the area is extremly safe. The staff is very friendly and constantly willing to help. The rooms are clean and some of them are quite big (talking about standard rooms, not those from basement). Coffee from the house all day long. Free snacks in the afternoon (peanuts, some waffles, some fruits, coffee, water). Water provided in the minifridge!
