Loved the vast array of Greek food for breakfast on the upper terrace with great view of the Bospherous. 24 hr helpful staff. Comfortable room & bed with mini frig. Convenient location near tram, Palace, Blue Mosque, etc. Housecleaning straightened our room daily. Was a wonderful beginning for our month of travel.

Staying in a traditional guest house for our first visit to Istanbul / Turkey was a trip highlight. As was the water view from our bedroom window. The kind & helpful reception staff and the lovely women that provided excellent room cleaning was also appreciated. The breakfast on the terrace and the staff that provided it was also excellent. We also found the location to be perfect - close to the main attractions but set back enough to be quiet.

We stayed in the family room, which was much more crowded compared to the family rooms we stayed at other hotels on our trip, including in the same neighborhood in Istanbul. While small for 4 people, we made it work.

Small but otherwise nice, quiet room. Comfortable beds, excellent location near the mosques, great room temperature, nice to have the mini fridge. Loved that the breakfast buffet included signs for the foods so that you knew what everything was! Could have used that earlier in our trip.

Great locations 5 mins walk from Topkapi and Haghia Sophia. Huge breakfast, welcoming staff, clean rooms and bathrooms, tea & coffee upstairs, laundry service. Quiet at night. Wonderful views of Bosphorus.

Nothing this was a great stay.

Location was amazing, view of the sea and food were exceptional, rooms and decor beautiful. Staff very helpful and friendly. Family of six good value accommodation in the heart of everything with walking access!

The room was small and the bed didn’t feel particularly sturdy.

It was in a great location on a quiet street just a 5 minute walk from Hagia Sophia. Whilst there is no lift, staff were quick to help with suitcases. Breakfast was good and fresh

Nothing really to complain about. Some people will find stairs a little difficult but you’d expect that in all these older guest houses in this location. Pack light and you won’t have a problem.

The first night the room smelled bad but I changed rooms and all is well that ends well.

We loved this B&B with its very helpful staff, fantastic location, decoration with traditional textiles, amazing rooftop view and the best buffet breakfast we have had - huge range of delicious traditional, homemade savoury and sweet dishes. Amazing! Very clean with lovely comfy beds. Will definitely book again if we come back to Istanbul.

The is nothing negative about Marmara

The breakfast at Marmara was fantastic and all the staff were very helpful. They arranged transfers for us and were great. Rooms were on the small side but offered a comfortable and warm environment and outlook from the window. The bathroom was fine and we really enjoyed staying here. We were going to spend a couple more days there after 4 weeks in Turkey generally but were disappointed to see it was fully booked. Maramara is in a great position and is within a short walk to many popular spots, shops and restaurants.

Ideally located for exploring ‘old’ Istanbul. Fantastic breakfast included, on the roof terrace with stunning views over the Bhosphorus. Not for the feint-hearted: on the 4th floor with steep stairs. Helpful staff.

Excellent location with a nice view of the sea. Good kebab restaurant nearby with live music and good food (many restaurants around the place). We loved the breakfast on the terrace with a wonderful view of the sunrise.

Breakfast (whilst abundant choice) is a cold unusual offering. The only ‘hot’ options are cooked before the 8am start and just left out til 10am finish and not cooked fresh for people or replenished. The Cook just prepares everything beforehand and that’s it! She stays there just to wash up the plates. The one ‘hot’ terrine with scrambled eggs and a type of sausage is unfortunately only ‘Luke warm’ at best and therefore unappetising. When I tried to heat the ‘eggy’ toast in the toaster I was told I couldn’t. So it was eat tepid or leave it!

Great value, friendly staff, comfy room. Appreciated a plate of cold meat, cheese, cake left in the room the night before we had a very early day trip start on our first morning.

Everything was so great that I don't have any suggestions at all.

The Marmara Guesthouse was perfect for our family group. The location is wonderful, breakfast is amazing, the view from the terrace is outstanding and above all, the staff is very welcoming and helpful. The rooms were beautifully decorated and charming. We loved that the top terrace area was available to us at any time: a glass of wine and bananagrams at sunset! The hotel arranged transfers and taxis and there is someone at reception around the clock, so if you have an early taxi, all is arranged and monitored by the hotel. The Istanbul transit system was explained and we were loaned an Istanbul card for the duration of our trip. We felt that this hotel represented high value for what we received and we would return again for sure if we come back to Istanbul!
