Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

TurkeyThe bathroom was a disaster! There was black mould on the ceiling ( health hazard ) caused I expect by persons NOT opening the bathroom window, which was the only means of ventilation. The bath/shower access was up a step and over into a deep ceramic tiled bath. Again a hazard, and I slipped badly once. The water pressure to the shower and sink tap was too high, causing either leakage ( shower head ) or splashing when turning on the tap. The room we were allocated was up a couple of steep flights of stairs. NOT good for elderly people!!! Not good with heavy luggage. There was no reception, sitting area to relax out of the room, but still in the hotel. This should not really be termed a hotel, more a B&B.
The hotel location was excellent. There was another restaurant business at the hotel, which was very busy, despite the high food prices in this area. All ways of making money are utilised, which is, somewhat restrictive for passers by. All sights were within easy walking distance, as was the tram, which is very useful, with an Istanbul travel card, to see all of Istanbul, not just the locality. The room size was good, and the extra third bed was not required. The hotel owner was friendly, the breakfast adequate if the same every day. Not a cooked meal, but a pre-prepared one. The price of this room was OK for what was available.

MalaysiaIf it can be improved, the hotel owner can provide at least an electric kettle and some cooking utensils such as cups, bowls and ovens. There is a kitchen in the room but it cannot be used.
When I arrived, the staff at the counter helped me and my friends carry our luggage up the stairs to the third floor. The room is spacious and comfortable. Clean bathroom. The heater works well. The location of the hotel is close to Hagia Sofia and the Blue Mosque.

ColombiaWithout being anything serious, the area is a bit noisy at night. The bathroom smelled a little bad.
The location of the hotel means you can easily walk to many of the most interesting places in the city centre. The breakfast was also very good.

South AfricaThere will not be much to dislike about hotel han, if you don't like early morning chanting by the priests at the mosques it might be a problem for you.
You cannot get a better location. I have stayed at Hotel Han on 3 trips and its always what's expected, not perfect but comfortable clean and homely. Having the Barbecue restaurant at your doorstep is also great to end your day of excursions. Always a lot of fun with the friendly staff. Great access to the tram station that you can easily get around on to limit long walks. Although in that area that can also be a good thing.

SwitzerlandUnfortunately the kitchen is not equipped (there is basically nothing but some cupboards and a fridge). The room is not well isolated and one ears the neighbors as if they would stay in the same room. The showers mixer is not working properly (shower fluctuates from hot to cold all the time).
Very central location close to all the main attractions. The room is not big but comfortable and the terrace offers a view on Hadia Sophia.

MauritiusEveryday you get the same breakfast, it becomes a bit boring to have the same thing in the morning specially if you are there for more than 3 days. Sometimes they hurry you up to finish your breakfast, specially if it already strikes 10 am.
For the price and the location, that place is recommended, specially that it is 10 mins walk from Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace etc The atmosphere was amazing, the location was vibrant, some of the staffs were amazing, a special thanks to Vetsel, who’s been so helpful and professional and who ensured we had a good stay.

United StatesThe rooms are simple and the bathroom is quite small. If people want something fancy, this is not it. But if you appreciate friendly and helpful hosts with a great location for sightseeing, this is a good place to stay.
The location was only two blocks from the metro station that we took from the airport and was only a few minutes walk from sites such as the Blue Mosque. We only had one night in Istanbul and it was more that adequate with a good breakfast to boot.

SerbiaThere were a lot of illogical things in the room. There was absolutely no place to leave a towel, not a single hook. The TV is in a corner nobody can see but we didn't mind it. Also, there were a lot of hangers, but again, no place to put them. The room wasn't cleaned every day, and since there were 4 people, it was noticeable. Also, if you can avoid it, don't book airport transport through them. The price is always different, and they ask for way more than it actually costs. On top of that, drivers are always late, which seems to be normal for Turkish people. If you do book with them, make sure to book 30 minutes earlier than you would normally have, because the driver will be late.
The biggest perk is location. Just a few steps away from Hagia Sophia, everything is nearby. The room is big enough for 4 people and the beds are comfortable. The breakfast is good enough for the price we paid. Overall a decent stay.

Bosnia and HerzegovinaEvery single morning breakfast is the same. We didnt like it and when you get every morning the same thing its not good. Other hotels with this price range have identical breakfast.... There is picture of breakfast. Hotel doesnt look amazing from the outside and staircase and holways are tight but room itself is amazing and you dont go to Istanbul to spend time in hotel.
Hotel is in perfect location, room is clean and beds are super comfy. Hotel is Cheap if you compare it to others in area. Staff is good. Everybody is willing to help.

Norway- We were overcharged €100 upon check in, but were too tired to notice as we paid in lire. The hotel staff made us aware of this the next day, which was appreciated. However, we were refunded €100 in cash, and as a Norwegian I cannot make use of euro bank notes, so I will have to exhange it for a fee. - The wifi barely worked. A lot of the time it didn’t work at all. - The flusher for the toilet was broken. The water in tve shower switched between ice cold and boiling hot without us touching the faucet. PS. The staff in the restaurants downstairs in the hotel building did not leave us alone when we were coming and going. Some even blocked the way for us to try make us go into their restaurants. This is not the hotel’s fault, but if you’re not comfortable being hassled at the hotel doorstep this might not be the place for you!
Very good location in old Istanbul. Restaurants, bars, shopping, supermarkets and attractions were within walking distance. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed and decent sized room. 24 hour reception was great as we arrived late and checked out early.
