Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

+The location was perfect, every major sightseeing attraction was nearby and next to the metro. +Kursad and his team were extremely friendly, helped with everything we needed, and gave us tips on where to go and what to see. +The room was always clean, with fresh towels and bathroom amenities provided. +Breakfast was delicious, with a big selection of cheeses and ham, freshly made egg dishes, and more.

LithuaniaVery convenient location, excellent breakfast, friendly and caring staff. The room was not large, maybe a bit small for things if you are staying for a longer period. But I didn't spend much time in the hotel, so it was fine. The room was clean and tidy.

EstoniaBarbera Boutique Hotel is the perfect starting point for exploring Istanbul – just steps away from Gülhane Park. If you’re interested in history, you can visit the Archaeology Museum, Topkapi Palace, Basilica Cistern, Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and the Egyptian Bazaar. Cross the Galata Bridge and you’ll find yourself at Galataport and the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art. Or head toward Istiklal Avenue to discover the Pera Museum’s collections and rotating exhibitions – a refreshing cultural experience, especially on a hot day. :) The hotel is very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fresh and generous. Many thanks to all the staff for the excellent service and kindness – especially to Kürśad and Murat whose suggestions made exploring Istanbul so much easier and more enjoyable! P.S. And if you’re lucky, you might meet a cat outside Barbera Hotel unlike any you’ve ever seen before… “There is so much to discover in Istanbul, and Barbera Hotel – with its fantastic location, wonderful staff, and attentive service – does everything to make your stay truly memorable!

Czech RepublicThe room with the balcony was really tiny but we didn’t spend much time there so it didn’t matter at the end. Also the furniture was kind of worn off so some of the decorations or handles were slightly falling apart.
The location was perfect, close to the main Istanbul attractions. Breakfasts were of a great selection. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

AustraliaNothing, everything was perfect.
Absolutely Amazing Stay at Barbera Hotel! Our stay at Barbera Hotel in Istanbul was truly one of the best experiences we’ve had. The location is perfect — right in the heart of the city and within walking distance to all the major attractions. The breakfast buffet was absolutely incredible, with a wide variety of delicious options to choose from every morning. But what truly made our stay unforgettable was the outstanding service. Every single staff member — from reception to housekeeping and the breakfast team — went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They helped us with everything we needed, including organising transport and assisting with our luggage both on arrival and departure. Highly recommend Barbera Hotel to anyone visiting Istanbul. We’ll definitely be back!

This was a super small boutique hotel right in the heart of the old town, however it was in a quiet side street so there was no traffic noise etc. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially the two staff who managed the breakfast area nothing was to much trouble and they always gave us a greeting each morning, the breakfast they provided was also first class.Overall we were very impressed with this hotel and would happily stay again if in Istanbul.

United StatesPerfect location to most attractions, and things to do in Istanbul. The location is walkable to Sultanahmet area, Topkapi palace, Hagia Sophia, and Blue Mosque. We visited most of the popular tourist spots from our hotel without taking a taxi. The public transportation is also easy to access from this hotel. We walked from our hotel to Galata bridge, Galata tower, all the way to taksim square. The staff was wonderful always helpful, courteous , and friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

BrazilAlthough we are usually easy to please and we don’t have any food restrictions we didn’t like the breakfast very much (tasty and options available). Examples: the regular bread didn't look fresh, the same options every day, the scrambled eggs and pancakes weren't tasty.
1) Location was definitely very good. We went to many tourist attractions on foot or easily took a bus/Tram/Ferry boat nearby to the hotel. 2) The staff go out of their way to help and make you feel welcome. Even with the language barriers, they always go the extra mile to be friendly!

AustraliaThe only time I woke up was one morning hearing the call to prayer from the mosque but you will experience this anywhere you stay within the historic faith area and need to wear ear plugs.
While there are many hotels close to the main attractions in Istanbul this is one of the few which is set in a quiet street. We got a good night sleep and were able to walk to the main attractions within the sultanameht. The restaurants immediately near the hotel are mostly tourist traps but you don’t need to walk very far to hit some great gems. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast at the hotel was very fresh and tasty. Staff were very helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay.

Great location in old town in a very quiet street. Easy walk to all old town attractions, Topkapi Palace and major mosques. Shops and restaurants abound nearby. Sedat was a fantastic host and a source of information and went out of his way to help whenever we needed it. All other staff were friendly and helpful. We could not fault anything about our stay.

BrazilThe only thing that was a problem during our trip was the mini fridge. We like to buy local stuff and store in the mini fridge to try whenever we like, but we ended up losing a few things because it was not working.
The hotel is very well located, pretty close to the Galata Bridge. It's about 30min walk from Istiklal Cd and in the heart of the Sultanahmet region. We walked everywhere. The breakfast was great, with even options to order, like omelettes and pancakes. Murat was very friendly from the beginning, helping us out with everything and Kuşat as well. They really made a difference.
