Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IraqThe long walk till you reach the old town. The walk also has an incline
The staff… the location… the value for money. The fact that when the staff knew that we came last year as well, they even gave us a treat and surprised us with a small gift was very kind. Staff are very cooperative and helpful. When we asked them to change the mattresses coverings to newer ones they changed them directly. They also very kindly helped find us a taxi to the airport when we needed. The location is very near to tram and sultanahmet old town… but there is a downside of having a long track of walking with an incline (approx. 600m) till you reach sultanahmet old town. The value for money for such a stay with affordable price and location is very good in my opinion. The AC in the room is very nice and provided us with the cool environment during our stay.

United KingdomThe hotel needs lots of maintenance the because the important facilities are not working like the air conditioners, fridges, broken furniture. The mattresses are not clean, I noticed some insects are in the rooms.
The location is good because it’s surrounded with the popular historical attractions and it’s easy to reach them in walking distance.

United KingdomShe said yes, and at that moment director Emin/Emir began to ask in surprise “how does this work?”; After all, he told me on the day of arrival that it doesn’t work in any of the rooms. After this detail, he disgruntledly escorted my mother into the kitchen. All the following days, when he saw my mother, he said “refrigerator, yes, yes, the master will come today or tomorrow” and laughed. But the most unpleasant and main situation that spoiled our impression of this hotel is: July 9 at 9:30 pm, knock on our room. Mom opens the door, and there is the same director, he asked her to come down and talk. The conversation was about moving us to a room with one bed, but with a WORKING refrigerator. To which my mother said no. This was already understandable, because we paid for two separate rooms. He said to think about it until the morning. In the morning, mom went to breakfast and was given as many as 2 plates of breakfast 😅 She notified Emin/Emir that we were staying in our room, there were no objections. On the same day, when we were leaving the room, I told one of the hotel workers that we did not need cleaning, to which she said that we would be moved to another room and our things would be moved, since the room would be renovated with a roof. We said no, because my mother made it clear that evening that we would not be moving to a room with one bed. The girl called that same director and gave the phone number to my mother. He started talking to her rudely and raising his voice saying “your daughter didn’t pay for the room, the family should come over and in general I’m in charge and I decide here” I would like to clarify that I paid Hazym in euros and lira. We told the girl that we would only move out of the room if they gave us two rooms. An hour later, literally, the girl came up and asked for forgiveness and said that we could stay in this room. Also a nice gesture, she offered coffee. It’s too bad that I didn’t find out her name...
I don't really like leaving negative reviews. I prefer to either leave a good one or not write at all if there are shortcomings. Although I understand that this is wrong. After all, other tourists will come after us and face the same problems. I booked a room (standard twin room with sea view) through booking. My mother also booked a room for herself, but through an agency in the same hotel. When I arrived, I was met by a guy (I don’t remember the exact name, Emir or Emin) and offered to put my mother and me in the same room, but it was a family room, which, basically, was not a problem for us. The room was poorly cleaned, there were foreign hairs on the sheets, and I took out 2 pairs of slates from the bathroom, to which the manager said with a grin, “How many times are you going to bring this?” The foot towel in the restroom was dirty and wet, it felt like they forgot to clean this room. The next very important part is the refrigerator. Didn’t work. After which I approached that same guy Emin/Emir, his answer really surprised me: “girl, in all the rooms the refrigerators don’t work.” When I asked, “I assume that no one will fix it?” He smiled and said no. We went to another room together to check, but it turned out that it didn’t work. We also had to take the safe from another room, since ours did not have one. Upon mom’s arrival, he (Emin/Emir) introduced himself as the director... She, as a rule, always brings souvenirs and treats the staff. It was hoped that for such a good deed we would at least have a working refrigerator. The next day after arrival, my mother went down to the reception to find out about breakfast (since it was included in her “package” of the tour; my didn’t), he said he would go downstairs... There was another tourist at the reception and asked him to show my mother exactly where to go , to which he said no. At that moment, my mother decided to ask this girl about the refrigerator, whether it worked in her room or not.

RussiaAlmost everything was broken: toilet tissue holder, shower door, shower holder, toilet seat, litter bin, a hole in plaster on the wall. Not too clean in general and a lot of mold in the bathroom. The street outside is a constant car jam throughout the daytime. Very noisy, sounds of horns and screams from the outside (or maybe it's just Turkey). Very steep stairway. Power was out one day for 2 hours so I had to find a nearby cafe to work.
Low price, good location, close to best attractions. The view from the room is magnificent

United KingdomInternet was out of order for complete stay, not a place for those who meed a stable connection, light had developed some fault so no light for complete one night, there is no lift, so all those with luggage better see some other hotel with a lift, ac was not working, though its written on hotel advertisements but their hidden rules make Air conditioner unavailable as they think weather is fine now and worst was bed bugs. Bed sheets and pillow cover were washed but were still dirty with stains. Staff wasn't corporative and unfortunately lied for availability of internet that is down in complete Istanbul due to a breakage, while it was working is all nearby hotel😞
