Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIt feels trivial given all the great things about this place, but when we got there, I asked for an extra pillow and was told by a younger staff member that it probably wasn't possible, but he'd "check". Never heard back and never got the pillow. Mentioned to the manager the next day because the one pillow was hurting my neck who said without hesitation that he'd get me one immediately. And he did.
This place surprised us. Initially when we checked in, we were a little underwhelmed by our room, but I've got to tell you - it grew on us! It was clean and comfortable - just a bit dated. I had been disappointed to be on the first floor (just above street level), but in the end, I loved it. We opened the window, let the gauze curtains blow in the breeze and enjoyed the sounds of the city just below. Housekeeping did a great job every day and worked around our schedule. The manager who worked the front desk most days was delightful and helpful. And the highlight was the terrace where breakfast was served. The views blew us away! The Turkish breakfast itself was simple but really good with no shortage of options. The man in charge of that area (who we understand was scheduled to retire the weekend we left) was wonderful and kind. He kept the Turkish coffee and tea flowing and did everything he could to accommodate us. The location of the Anthemis is PERFECT! You open the door and have shops, restaurants and beautiful public squares at your disposal. You are steps away from a main street where the tram runs. Or walking distance from Sultahamet in one direction and the Bosphorus in the other. We've already recommended this place to some friends planning to travel to Istanbul in fall.

The staff at the hotel were super helpful and made our experience positive. The breakfast was beautiful!!! The restaurant next door Massa gave us 20% discount as we were staying at the hotel and their food was exceptional. They also always gave us extra service such as free coffee, tea and baklava.

United KingdomDouble room was quite small, as we had requested an additional bed (chair bed) also, which when laid out took up most of the walking room. Bathroom was small.
Perfectly situated - less than 100m to tram stop; both Hagia Sofia, The Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and The Basilica Cisterna are within 15 minutes walk Room was modernised and functional - great bed; awesome shower and very hot water available all day; bottled water provided each day Breakfast options were fresh, plentiful and replenished as needed, warm & cold offerings as well as gluten-free bread as per requested on booking Team were very helpful and upon arrival (around 1900) found the fridge not working, facilities team dealt with this efficiently by the time we returned from an outing the following morning.

AustraliaThe hotel rooms are very small and generally the hotel is a bit dated. Its fairly expensive for the standard and facilities
This hotel is all about its location. It is in the dead centre of Sultanahmet in close walking distance to all the historical sites Agus Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi, Grand bazaar and also a tram stop on the T1 line 50 meters away. Restaurants, cafes and shops surround the area. The staff were also really friendly and exceptionally friendly.

United KingdomThe breakfast room could do with a bit more updating. Only 1 toaster and half didn’t work. Some plants and greenery up there ( or on roof terrace) would give a bit more ambience.
Location was great. The room was of a good standard and the bed very comfortable. Our room was quiet and the air conditioner worked well. Reception staff and housekeeping were very friendly. Fantastic views from the breakfast room.

United StatesIt got quite loud outside with the restaurant below and the room often smelled like cigarette smoke, it may have come from the hallway which also smelled like cigarette smoke. One of the lights above one bed didn’t work.
The location was perfect and the breakfast terrace had a beautiful view. That staff was also incredibly helpful and nice.

United KingdomThe location was great — less than 2-minute walk to the tramline, making it very convenient for exploring the Sultanahmet Square area. The surroundings felt a bit tight and busy, with lots of nearby restaurants. There was some noise and music in the evenings, but it usually stopped around 2 am and sometimes earlier, so it didn’t disturb us too much. The staff were absolutely incredible — compassionate, caring, and always ready to help. When we had an emergency, they clearly guided us on what to do, arranged a taxi, and told us the exact cost upfront. Their kindness truly made a difference during our stay. A special shoutout to Serkan and Umut, who were more than accommodating — always going out of their way to be helpful, kind, and welcoming. Their warm greetings and genuine care stood out and were deeply appreciated. Our room was decent and comfortable. We stayed on the first floor with a French balcony, and actually had two balconies to step out onto — though without a view. The shower was amazing, and the iron was really handy. The air conditioning worked brilliantly, which was a big relief in the heat. The TV wasn’t great, but we hardly used it. The bathroom was well stocked with essentials like shampoo, conditioner, soap, and shower caps. In the cupboard, there was also a handy sewing kit available. They provided two bottles of water daily, and the room was cleaned every day. There was also a safe in the room for peace of mind. Throughout our stay, we felt safe, welcomed, and genuinely cared for. It’s a lovely hotel that many guests may enjoy depending on their preferences.
