Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe guest house is absolutely stunning. Our room was perfect and Sarah the owner was so friendly and happy to talk to us about the history of dar benti. Sarah has worked incredibly hard to rebuild dar benti, whilst keeping as many original features, this was honestly one of the most beautiful places we stayed and visited. You would not be disappointed! The staff are all so lovely and helpful. The breakfast was sensational. The extra touches throughout the day were wonderful, little traditional snacks and mini mint and lemon ice lollies were just what we needed in the hot lunchtime sun. We have been blown away! The entire home is immaculately clean and very well maintained and managed. Thank you Sarah for sharing this home with us and to all the staff for helping make this an experience we will never forget

AustraliaNothing negative about the property, however the outside areas on the street in this particular area were not always clean.
Very clean and nice spacious room. The service was excellent especially the home-made breakfast each morning which we would look forward to. You could tell the breakfast was made with a lot of care and passion from the staff. The property is about 10 minute walk from the Ribat and maybe 15 minute walk from the Monastir marina area. The housekeeping staff were quick and thorough. The upstairs area and pool was great for relaxing. If we ever return to Monastir, we would stay here again.

CanadaWow! Fabulous! Elegant! Just a few words to describe at minimum the positive experience we had at Dar Benti with our host Sarah. With plaques posted from the entrance of the old market to guide you to Dar Benti, we never felt lost as we found our way to the front door of Dar Benti. The staff were all so kind, yet very shy. However, very beautiful people to talk to. The bonus is the tour presented to you by Rim to explain the transformation of this over 100 year home into the oasis that it has been handcrafted corner to corner by the owner Sarah. Not just sheer elegance in the design of the property, but the care and artisan presentation the kitchen staff apply towards a remarkable and unforgettable breakfast experience EVERYDAY! If are looking for an escape, there are several spaces Sarah has created for you throughout the property to sit back, relax, and find your serenity. But of course, your room is yet an oasis on its own! Scents, ambiance, just truly beautiful. The property is located at the most ideal main doors to the madina. The lounge is approximately 4 minute walk, the metro is approximately a 7 minute walk which we found extremely convenient for us! The main historical attractions which are all towards the ocean are averaging 5-10 minutes walking. Several local food, cafe, and shisha options throughout and surrounding the Madina. More of an enhanced or much more modern dining experiences are all available with appropriate 15 minutes walking. For a guaranteed experience, and if location is important for you, we truly suggest Dar Benti. Our room had two bed, both beautifully designed and decorated. If price is not an issue for you, the larger room with the additional bed is amazing as it feels like a home all together! Super merci Sarah and your beautiful team of Rim, the hospitality staff, and the young very shy maintenance gentleman!

United StatesLoved everything, but taking credit card payment would be helpful. Our bank would t arrange foreign transfers so we had to do 4 atm withdrawals to get enough cash to pay.
Wow, this may well be the nicest place I’ve stayed at in my 25+ years of travel for sheer style and space. We had the Alyssa room which is more of a hall than room with high ceilings and a loft bed. It looks like a palace and it’s clear the owner had a vision of this place and how to restore it tastefully. The 2 courtyards are perfect as is the pool/lounge area upstairs. But the star is the breakfast which is incredible- all kinds of homemade jams, procured cheeses, pastries, berries, strawberry smoothie and some surprise each day like a quiche. My French is poor so the communication was minimal but the staff are very kind and helpful. One even helped me find parking and an atm to get money to pay. It’s perfectly located in Monastir center, walking distance from the ribat and port. Glad we stayed here than more hectic Sousse. Easy day trips to El Jem and Kairouan.

Dar Benti is a fantastic accommodation located in the medina of Monastir. You would not expect such a jewel walking dawn the side street that leads to it. Our hosts were incredibly friendly, the rooms were clean, spacious and beautiful and the amenities are well taken care off. One thing that needs to be mentioned in particular was the breakfast, which was absolutely amazing. It was like a fine dining experience for breakfast, serving locally sourced jams, cheeses and other delicacies. I still dream of that breakfast!

United StatesThere is not much to see, do, or eat in Monastir. We drove to El Jem, an hour and 15 minutes away, which was very good. Of course, Sarah can’t control the location.
Dar Benti and Sarah, the owner, are absolutely amazing! The hotel is so cozy and beautifully decorated. Every detail is thoughtful, even the Christmas decorations in late November! The complimentary breakfast is as soooo good!

United KingdomThe bathroom was 'open air', i.e. there was no ceiling to floor door separating from the bedroom area. It wasn't a big issue, but when traveling with friends a bit more privacy would be nice :)
Breakfast was superb in terms of variety and quality. Great location and the building was beautifully renovated and decorated. The owner and the staff who welcomed us were extremely polite and accommodating. Ideally I would have liked to spend more time reading in the internal patio, very airy, full of light and relaxing (potentially a good spot for remote work?!) Would definitely recommend if staying in Monastir.

United Arab EmiratesThe bathroom being connected to the bedroom (with no door) isn't pleasant if you aren't a solo traveler. Also, there were wedding photo shoots right outside our room each evening; I felt I couldn't sit by the pool as I'd be in the way of the photo shoot. There was a single complimentary coffee pod. I think it would be nice to have one per guest, per day.
Dar Benti is a beautiful place to stay. I loved the rooftop pool and the breakfasts served each morning. The guesthouse itself is immaculate -- amazing design, picturesque. The architect is the host, and is incredibly welcoming.

AustraliaOur stay at Dar Benti was simply wonderful. Our room was tastefully appointed in traditional decor and the Dar, after being meticulously renovated, is now cared for beautifully. Our bed was firm but comfortable; breakfasts were so fulsome and fresh; the staff were warm and accommodating and everything was assidulously cleaned. We particularly loved the rooftop space complete with a lovely pool - it was just gorgeous. This is a hidden jewel in the medina!

Small enough to be able to make the most of all the facilities (pool, small reading room, two good size communal living rooms with TV etc upstairs kitchen and breakfast bar + tables & loungers etc etc) yet heaps of space to relax in. The other guests were all nice and respectful. Would definitely return.
