How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewSomething was amiss in the room and they immediately upgraded me to a superior one. After a tiring multi-day hike and roasting temperatures, this kind of service is a godsend. The following day I felt the effects of something I ate the previous evening and they extended my stay for free until 13:00 so I could rest more before travelling. Room was very comfortable Breakfast buffet in the cafeteria below the hotel looked very extensive but I couldn't eat due to my stomach problem. I had a lovely conversation with the female manager the next day and cups of tea to ease my stomach Thanks to staff for help and flexibility!

Verified reviewVery good location and very friendly staff although they just spoke very little English. Bathroom in the room even in the shared hostel room. Great breakfast! Free tea and water all day.
I had a shared hostel room with two bunk beds. The room is pretty small for four people but luckily the first night I was there just with another guy.

Verified reviewBreakfast was a highlight, we each received a token for the cafe below the hotel and the food choices met our needs, it was also open early which helped. Air conditioning was strong.
Tired doesn't come close to describing the hotel, we booked a twin and received a larger family room with bunks and multiple beds - the beds were solid and very uncomfortable, the shower a drip drip drip type of affair in a bath that looked like it was pre soviet and had been painted.

Verified reviewThe location is perfect, easy to reach from Vakzal or airport. Nearby city center and a public beach crossing the river. The breakfast is generous and dinamyc thanks to a cupon which can be used in the cafeteria downstairs. Free water and staff polite and helpful
There were roaches in the bathroom at specific hours.

Verified reviewSmall and quite hotel in the heart of Khujabd city. The rooms are renovated and clean
Air conditioner was blowing cold air straight into the bed because the air flow adjusting was broken. Without air conditioner it was very hot.

Verified reviewLocated in the centre. The breakfast is plentiful. WiFi worked well
The room was not properly cleaned between the guests (there were hairs, stains and rubbish on the floor). The staff also tried charging me more on site, but agreed to stick to initial price after an argument

Verified reviewBest hotel we stayed in in Tajikistan
Taxi driver took us to similarly named but wrong hotel, despite looking at map pin and Cyrillic name. Looks like previous guests had the same experience - maybe taxi drivers do this on purpose for a second ride. Check carefully!

Verified reviewThe location was convenient, with restaurants nearby. The hotel is on the first floor without an elevator, but the staff helped carry our luggage, which was a kind gesture. Breakfast was good, served in the basement, and required coupons. Although there was a language barrier, the staff used Translation apps to assist us, which worked fine. The main issue we faced was the lack of running water for an entire day. The staff continuously provided bottled water to help us manage, which we appreciated, but using them for the toilet and bath was still uncomfortable. It seems to be a recurring problem, as also mentioned in previous reviews. A permanent solution, such as installing disposable drums, could resolve this issue. Apart from this, everything else was perfect. The manager/receptionist was very kind and showed great understanding by refunding almost 50% of our total booking due to the inconvenience. We truly appreciate that gesture.
Lack of water

Verified reviewKheson Hotel: Location: Hotel has very central and comfortable location. All main sightseeing places like museum, fortress, park and river within five minutes of walking distance. Local restaurants/café, shopping malls, pharmacy, ATM/banks and good public transportation system are around the hotel. Staff: Hotel staff was a customer oriented, friendly and helpful. They are asset and joy of the hotel. Room: I stayed in the dorm room #303 with four beds in total. Bed was comfortable. Clean towel has been provided. There was a window (to the hallway stairs), a standalone cloth hanger, a TV, a mini-fridge, a garbage bin and two chairs with tiny table. We also had an en-suite bathroom. I found shampoo and dental kit at the sink. But shower was bad! Toilet flush was not strong. Breakfast: Hotel reception gave food coupons which could be used in the basement cafeteria/canteen. Hotel, cafeteria/canteen and supermarket are in the same building. Overall, Kheson Hotel is a nice and safe place to stay in Khujand.
Small and not expensive things which could improve impression about Kheson Hotel: Shower in the dorm room #303: 1) Please fix cold water in the shower. There is only hot water in the shower which becomes boiling hot water quickly. So it was impossible to set up normal comfortable temperature of water to take a shower like a human being because of boiling hot water. Reception guy tried to fix it, but I assume serious professional attention is required. 2) Please add several wall hooks in the bathroom. Otherwise, I didn’t know where to hang my clothes and towel during taking shower. Wi-Fi internet: 1) Wi-Fi internet worked bad in the dorm room #303. I changed username several times, but internet capacity was still not that good and fast. I couldn’t open some hostel review pages during search. Bed: 1) Bed side lamp and shelf for cell phone and hooks (for hanging clothes) for every bed could be appreciated.

My smart watch was stolen when I leave the room. I talked with staff “I will go to 〜until × o’clock “ So that someone stole my stuff… I recommend who will stay here, when you leave the hotel, you should lock your suitcase and not leave expensive things…
