Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsIt's a quite old place. Had problems with shower (waterpressure; no water in morning, when it functioned water went from burning hot to icecold and back) and an ac that was either turned off or turned on all night without possibility to shut it off or change the cold temperature
Good atmosphere (guests actually talk with eachother) and location. Cheap but you get what you pay for

FranceWill arriving bedsheets were badly washed or not changed, we found some trash under the beds (2 bed separate even if I asked for 1 double)and wasn’t very comfortable for us as the bed is like a jelly with springs, WiFi has a lot of restrictions on the weekdays that are released on weekend, we couldn’t access any platform to book our trip on weekdays.
Very spacious room, a lot of fournitures, hot water, WiFi, very good location.

ThailandGreat value for the money. The location in the Old City is excellent near the Pai Tia Gate. Lots of food choices locally. During festival you’re close to the action. The Sunday Street market is a great feature.

FranceSome things in the room were a little shabby. Peeling paint. My main light was broken (probably by previous occupier) and therefore didn’t work. However there was a bedside lamp. Overall the place was good though.
The staff were amazing. Couldn’t fault them. They booked my cooking course, I came back after visiting Pai. The restaurant (ran by the owners) downstairs was excellent. Location was great. Easy to get to and nice to wander around

United KingdomThe tap in the bathroom had only a trickle of water and then on my second morning had no water at all. The temperature control on the shower did not work and the water was scorching, too hot to get under. Made a change from the other places I’ve stayed this holiday, where the only option was a cold shower ! I was told that this had been a problem for a year, but was going to be fixed that day . Really ?????
The location was good, just inside the old city gate and on the edge of the Sunday night market. The family who run the place are very nice and friendly. I had breakfast there on one of my mornings, which was nice and less than £1 GBP for omelette and coffee. Nice to be able to rent a bicycle or scooter directly from the hotel.

United StatesThe rooms need some attention (such as a door handle for the bathroom door- now it is just a hole where it was located) but we knew it was a budget accommodation and were expecting some little issues here and there.
The breakfast was phenomenal. We had Khao Soi every morning because it was just that amazing! The owners are outstanding chefs and the food is really fabulous! The food is reasonably priced as well. The breakfast wasn't included in the room price, but it was so handy to just walk downstairs and have a lovely cafe with great coffee and fantastic food with great prices. Another great plus is the location to the old town- perfect! We often went out exploring and came back to use our bathrooms or have a quick rest. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The owner helped us to set up 2 day excursions and got good prices for us. We really enjoyed getting to know the owners and chatting with them every day. We had the room with a fan (no airco) and it was a fine temperature at night to sleep. It would depend on the month of visiting (ours was October) but we opened the balcony door and had the fan going to circulate the air.

The beds were super comfy, the airconditioner was powerful and the location was amazing! The entire place very quiet, we even had desks so it was easy to work from home in the evenings.

SingaporeWater from the sink and shower in the toilet had a bit of an odour at times but it resolved by letting the water run for a while. No air conditioning so a little stuffy. All in all, still a very decent place to stay and I would stay there again gladly if ever in Chiang Mai again
Simple lodging but comfortable. Perfect if you're not a fussy traveller and just need a place to spend your nights after spending the day out in Chiang Mai. No A/C so it could get a little stuffy at times. Great location, within walking distance to key attractions, food spots, Sunday night market. Coffee right downstairs at vip kitchen was great and reasonably priced
