Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was nothing not to like.
The location is very quiet, but within easy walk to the old city and night market. The room was a good size and very comfortable - the bed is definitely for a western person, very big and very comfortable. The air con works well. The bathroom is a good size and does have a nice hot shower. There is a tv that can stream all the major services if you have them. The wifi Is also good. I would be very happy to visit Bertil & Yings guest house anytime.

United StatesAlmost nothing just one piece of advice but don’t let it deter you: I recommend bringing noise canceling earbuds to sleep because the owner is still figuring out how to soundproof the rooms. You can always reach out before your stay and ask if they have improved the noise isolation. Normally I’d be shocked if you told me I would leave a 5 star review for a place where I had some trouble sleeping but that problem really pales in comparison to the total experience and I also believe that the owner is still improving this issue.
The location of the hotel is unbeatable—you’re walking distance to the city center and to the eastern canal area and night market. Every morning I get an excellent cappuccino brought up to my room and then set out on foot to do whatever I feel like. Haven’t seen a hotel this clean or new in a long time. (As of February 2025.) Right now I think the rooms are worth $150 USD/night but of course that can change according to supply and demand. If the town is packed I imagine they could charge $200/night. I had dinner here as an emergency late one night after 10 when I didn’t feel like going back out after returning home, and the pad Thai was solid—nothing spectacular but was so helpful to have good food and a beer on demand. They do absolutely everything to please, including random recommendations if you ask. And reasonably priced laundry. List goes on :)

United KingdomMaybe some relaxing chairs or loungers in the garden to rest up and catch some rays.
Superb accommodation. Lovely comfortable king size bed and excellent shower, plenty of height for the taller traveller. Very good food, reasonably priced. The owner will explain any trips you need and organise them, taking away the stress. Fantastic location, near to walking street and food markets, but very quiet and relaxing. Very friendly staff and owners.

I normally stay at a hotel round the corner but stumbled upon this fantastic little place a bit my mistake. A GOOD mistake I might add. Hosted by a friendly Dutchman and his Thai family, I understand it to be a new venture for the family and they are learning as they go, This is not a negative. Everyone seems to want to do the best they can for you and ensure your stay is the best it can be. Just of the main "Loh Kroh Road" but not effected by the noise and hustle. Freshly refurbished i assume as everything is immaculate and one of the best bathrooms I have used in Thailand Added bonus is the price. very resonable Enjoyed the night that much I came back a few days later for another, Oh yeah the food is pretty good too.

VietnamThe owners Burt and his wife are lovely friendly people who really make you feel at home. I pre booked before I left for next year because I know the European will become very popular and it will become difficult to get in. Lucky for me this place is brand new and not very well known but that will change very fast. I would advise you book early to avoid disappointment.

United StatesThe location is AMAZING! It's in the middle of the action, but the large yard buffers the street noise, so you get a quiet night sleep. The staff was attentive and kind. The food was great. They were accommodating - making us a super early breakfast when were going hiking one morning. It's all super new and clean. We stayed in old town earlier in the week and paid much more for a room that was NOT as nice as this. We would definitely return.

TaiwanJust a warning, it is a guesthouse (or known in America as a bed & breakfast) NOT a hotel. You'll hear the morning rush of breakfast eaters right downstairs from the room - the noise didn't bother me as it reminded me my busy family getting ready in the morning.
The room was new and very clean. Stayed in a Superior Deluxe Double, so the size of the room was large and spacious. The was refurbished to western standards. Though it was a guest house (not hotel), it was a nice change from a large hotel. For the Americans/westerners looking at this accommodation, it's a guesthouse (not hotel) so think of it as a bed & breakfast - rooms are upstairs and open eating area is downstairs. Location wise it was quiet and a few minutes (5-7min) walk to the night markets. I would definitely stay there again.
