Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandDuring my 5 night stay, they superficially cleaned my room only once. Even on the terrace, empty water bottles weren’t collected. There was a lot of insects (mainly tiny ants and mosquitoes) in the room and in bed.
Really nice tool with a good and large bathroom. The bed was good as well.

The location is perfect, just a short walk down to the one of the best beaches I’ve visited in Thailand. The rooms are very large, with a balcony. The rooms are situated in a very calming area with lots of trees. I personally enjoyed waking up for breakfast made by the hotel with the stunning view from the restaurant. I was able to rent a moped from the hotel.

United StatesThe surrounding environment needs more upkeeping, so it looks cleaner. Sometimes the garden smells musty, not fresh.
The restaurant has a nice glimpse of the ocean. My room and bathroom are clean. The hotel is within walking distance to the beach, easy road access. Family owned staff is nice and responsive. They also provide taxi service which is convenient.

AustraliaGorgeous little family owned and run resort. It has great ocean views and is nestled in lush, green tropical forest with a good location with a 3 min walk to the beach and a 5 min walk to the village. The property is perched high on the hill with a steep descent to the beach, so it helps to be fit. The owner goes out of her way to make sure her guests are comfortable.

United KingdomIt is up a steep hill at the north end of the beach. 15 mins walk to 7/11. There is another mini market down the hill by the beach but not much choice and not great prices. It is in a very rich forest environment. Beautiful trees etc but a LOT of mosquitoes. We were happy to stay in and watch the Netflix! No swimming pool, on steep hill so many steps to rooms. We found the beach very dirty with a lot of plastic waste which was pretty depressing.
Beautiful, large rooms with great aircon and TV that really works! Kids were so happy to watch ‘normal’ Netflix! The owner lady was so helpful and kind to us. She has a taxi service and you can just caller her to pick you up any time! She cooked us delicious food at 9pm and she is helpful.

SlovakiaFor non-bike using turist, this may not be the best spot.
Very nice Thai host. You can rent a bike or get transported by host. Bungalows are surrounded by trees and nature, which brings nice atmosphere but also some strange noise :] Room was clean, spacious, with terace, big bathroom and enough space. AC was a bit weaker, so if you love to "fridge" your room, it wont happen. 10-15min walking distance from here you can find beach, restaurant or small village with nice coffee spots and bars.

GermanyThe WiFi signal is sometimes very week in the room, especially in the evenings, when more people in their room again. We had to use our mobile internet most of the time
Comfortable rooms with fantastic location. It feels like in the the middle of the nature but still many restaurants in Haad Yao are around. Also services like laundry and motorbike rental are available. Also very nice staff. All in all great stay!

GuernseyI was slightly underwhelmed on arrival but don’t let this cloud your judgement. I did a 180 after a good nights sleep and fully appreciated the work that has gone into this wonderful little haven.
A lovely little family run business with amazing open sided dining room and reception area where we enjoyed an exceptional breakfast every day during our stay. The staff were super friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable and the pets were a cuddly bonus for me.

United KingdomNot the property itself. Koh Phangan is much harder to get around than some of the other islands we’ve visited, it’s very steep for beginner bike riders and their taxi infrastructure is poor. If you want to explore the island, it can be expensive and/or inconvenient.
Ran by a lovely family, very accommodating, helpful and kind. Very close to a well serviced and chilled out beach but still quiet and it makes you feel like you’re in the jungle. Really comfortable beds, the bathroom is ok but starting to show signs of age.

RomaniaIt’s a quite humid area, and close don’t dry. But this is not a weak point of the location. It’s just normal for that area of the island.
The most comfortable bed we ever slept in Thailand, nice location run by a family. They are very nice and can help with scooter rent, transport around the island, and very good food at their restaurant. The room had also great air conditioner.

PolandThe villa looked new and clean on photos but in my opinion it needs renovation or deep cleaning as it was not clean enough (dust, stains, dirty fridge) and there was a bad smell in the bathroom
The owner was super nice, helpful and friendly. Really spacious house. Close to the beach when the tide is low ( when the tide is too big in the morning you have to go around which takes more time)

BelgiumThey haven't cleaned the room when we stayed there. Not sure if we should've asked but we slept in the same sheets for 3 nights and washed ourselves with the same towels for 3 days. So there was no room service and we have not seen any one cleaing the rooms..
Super friendly and helpful staff! There lives a dog wich was a bonus for me. New bottles of water every day of your stay. Aircon works great and was recommended. Bike rental at the reception. You are surrounded by trees so if you're lucky you might see monkeys or squirrels like we did!

United KingdomWe stayed at Sun Moon Star for 2 full weeks. The location is excellent, so close to the beach 🏝️ which was one of our favourite beaches on the island (we visited most of them). The nearby beach has plenty of restaurants/bars to choose from. Highlife Restaurant at the end of the beach up the steps was great for dinner/drinks with a superb sunset 🌅 This beach was also excellent for a bit of snorkelling 🤿 🐠🐟 The owner and all of her family were incredibly helpful. They did the laundry onsite and we also hired a motorbike from them, all at very competitive prices. (No need to part with your passport to hire the bikes if staying there). 🏍️🏍️ The road conditions on the island were safe and quiet enough to ride a bike. Just go carefully, especially over any sandy surfaces 👍 The food was great and served up with beaming smiles in the traditional breakfast/dinner area, overlooking the garden, high up with sea views in the distance. Really a beautiful view and so peaceful. 🙌 It was all very good value for money. Our favourite dishes were the garlic pepper and the sweet and sour stir fries. The fruit, muesli and yoghurt breakfast bowl was plentiful and delicious too. They also sell some bakery goods in the restaurant. You must not leave without trying the banana cake 😋 The owner arranged our return taxi/ferry bookings for us. Nothing was too much trouble and she always had a welcoming smile. We made good friends with her dog 🐶 who greeted us each time we returned, promptly sitting and lifting his paw 🐾 waiting for his treat from us 😁 A fantastic stay. Thank you, Jacqueline 🙏 Graham 🙏
