Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainThe only negative things are that the quality of the food on the restaurant's menu can be improved and the bar closes too soon. Friday closed at 10pm and Saturday at 10:30pm. There are no other places nearby where you can have a drink and you have to drive. Warning: You have to be careful with the sandflies on the beach and use coconut oil to avoid bites!
It’s a paradise. Very quiet area with a virgin beach. The pool is clean and amazing with the bar inside. Very good breakfast with gluten-free options. The cocktails are delicious and are made with fresh fruit. The staff is so friendly. It was my birthday and they helped us get a cake and sang me happy birthday. Beds are very comfortable. The Boat House’s rooms are new, clean and spacious.

United KingdomInclusive breakfast buffet, relaxing and peaceful location away from the more continuous row of beach development common to the west side of the island. Not adjacent to the busy island highway but easy to access for travel to both east and west coasts and the ferry terminal. The island road network is horseshoe-shape, not a circuit, so the south-west and south-east are a long way apart. Shambala Resort is at the 'top' of the horseshoe if exploring the island is important to you.

ThailandLaidback location with attentive staff, comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen, and beachfront as well. Wife claims there was a musty smell, but I couldn’t detect it. Water flow for hot in the shower was a bit low. Overall, a wonderful experience!

AustraliaShambhala is a fantastic resort. Beautiful location and scenery. In the quiet part of Koh Chang. Transportation : due to the location becomes expensive to get to White Beach and the other more populated location by taxi unless you hire the motor bike from the resort which is great due to no handling over your passport. This made exploring the island a absolute dream and made our stay at Shambhala a fantastic experience. I like to say to Mr Lek and all the staff that I met a very big thank you for my stay at Shambhala.

Beautiful location, great staff and owners. Very friendly and helpful. Spacious room, excellent AC. Nice pool (cooler than the sea), not crowded. Good breakfast. Sunbeds on sand and grass. Lots of shade if you want it, like I do. Overall, a great peaceful place.

United KingdomEven better if: Some adjustable loungers were available WiFi could be stronger for those that want to stay connected; it flickers constantly in eye-line throughout the night which may irritate some guests Mosquito repellent was provided in the rooms and for the balcony Thank you to the whole team.
We loved our room on the second tloor or lne Boathouse; themed, spacious, airy and a balcony to watch the raptors and swallows soaring. A large portable fan complimented the air conditioning (if required) The complimentary water was plentiful and the daily cleaning left the room beautifully clean. Beach and bath towels were of good quality. Hair conditioner was a bonus! The shower was consistently hot. The bed was very comfortable with two pillows of different softness. Lek was very helpful with pre arrival queries. We would stay again! We enjoyed the yoghurt, fruit and muesli breakfasts with an omelette to follow. All staff are attentive and welcoming. We enjoyed our Thai dinner one night; the menu for local dishes is more limited than other options in the area. The infinity pool is perfect for swimming or gazing out towards the expansive beach and the vibe is very laid back with low music. The loungers are plentiful but have curved frames with bungee cord so they can't be adjusted. Fewer people wander this far down the beach so the space is predominantly quiet. Natural shade is available. At low tide it's a walk to the water which has a long shallow shelf. The bay is hugged beautifully by a peninsular each side creating a stunning setting. The hotel is part of a larger Blue Haven complex so security is high with barriers and guards at vehicular entrances and well lit pathways to walk between the venues. It's a short walk up the beach to other facilities or inland to the village. We did both. Our stay was very quiet and true to its descriptions and met our expectations.

Hong KongBreakfast was just perfect, lovingly curated. Room was larger than expected with lovely balcony. Khun Lek was amazing on the front desk. Recommended an a wonderful massage lady who came to the room every day. And also an expert Muay Thai coach Khun Natt who came to Shambala to give lessons on the grass. Loved the feel of the small resort within a big one. Walks on the beach in the morning were serene, with no one around even in the busy season.

New ZealandThe resort is rather isolated which has its advantages, but we did need a scooter to get around as taxis were a total ripoff (100 baht+ per person for a <5 min shared ride). Lunch & dinner offering could be expanded to offer more local options, especially for those who are vegetarian. Margherita pizza was good. While our room was kept sufficiently clean, housekeeping as well as the receptionist could do with some additional training. Shower was either cold or too hot, we could only get the right temperature very briefly.
Beautiful resort with a large, idyllic beach. Pool water was perfect. We stayed in a junior suite in the boat house and really liked the room; it was large and comfortable, and nicely decorated. Bed was comfortable. Pillows were too firm but we were given softer ones on request. The owners & bar/restaurant staff are very helpful and provide good service. Breakfast is great and very good quality. We stayed for 6 nights and did not get bored of the food on offer even though it is not a huge selection. It was nice to get a freshly made coffee every morning.

GermanyAmazing stylish small resort on a beautiful beach. We enjoyed a couple of days in a well designed room in the boat house. The staff was very friendly and the resort offers delicious breakfast (subjectivity because German taste) till 11am at the beach restaurant. We really loved the freshly made Swiss styled bread, the oats, natural yoghurt and the tasty and fresh fruits and vegetables. We can further recommend the nice and very tidy gym as well as the beautiful pool at the beach bar. As the resort is places away from the main local villages. Further we recommend to rent a scooter via the resort reception. The closest 7eleven and petrol station is in 15min walk or 4min with scooter away. We can fully recommend this resort to relax and get in shape in the gym. For further inspo follow @hannahandclemens on instagram

GermanyNo fan in the bathroom, which is not so nice after a shower. No Moscato net's at the door/window, so you cannot open them to exchange air. The pricing of the attached restaurant (the food and drinks are rather expensive and the taste doesn't make up for it)
Location (quiet area), big pool with a nice view, cleanliness of the room, 2l of water per day included, tasty breakfast. This benefit is limited to the German audience, but the hotel is owned by a Swiss family and the Thai man at the reception can speed kind of German. While having breakfast there is a waiter that can speak German.

DenmarkThe staff at the restaurant were rude and unfair. We ordered two meals from there and both the times they messed up our order. The second time they not only gave us the wrong dish ( for my 6 year old son) but they also charged us 3 times our initial order!! I felt cheated and was treated poorly.
The apartment was spacious and comfortable.

ThailandWe left 1 day early due to bug infestation in the room and location inconvenience. Infestation in bedroom or seating area. We were told it was sand fleas but were not on the beach, plus new bites appeared overnight every night for 4 nights. We wore OFF bug spray to bed and sprayed the sheets daily. Back and arms are covered in huge red itchy welts that are leaking clear liquid. Went to the hospital in BKK and was treated for mites, but the doctor can not pinpoint the actual mite. In my 12 years of living and traveling SE Asia, I've never experienced this many bites. Khun Lek was helpful and kind to accommodate the situation. He is friendly.
We stayed in the 2 bedroom Penthouse suite. Beautiful spacious room with private balcony plus shared rooftop deck. Grounds and views are beautiful. Staff is friendly and accessible. I suggest renting a scooter motorbike if you are comfortable driving one as the nearest town is not walking distance and taxis will charge 500 baht one way. $13+USD White Sand Beach or the pier are within driving distance. The website states 3 pools, but there's only 1 pool on-site. The other 2 pools are a considerable walk or 200 baht golf cart service round-trip. The resort pool is a bar pool, so it is private, but many people are allowed to enjoy the pool as long as they order drinks. Guests of Shambala are not required to purchase drinks and can use the pool anytime. Fortunately, the owner was present on our 2nd day and helped control the atmosphere. She was attentive and helpful. Staff is extra lovely and it is a quiet atmosphere at night. This resort is recommended, and the breakfast is good, and eggs are cooked to order.

IsraelThe place is owned by German couple, very rude and disrespectful lady, with very bad attitude towards the guest. No water pressure at the shower, the towels are terrible. pillows are so hard, that i woke up with a neck pain after the first night. weathered rooms that really need to be renovated. stayed here for 4 nights, 2 days didn’t have running water from the morning till the early evening. Not recommended to stay at the place, but worth the visit if the beach bar area.
