Didn’t like that we were told to go to chong lard pier but not advised of pick up or how to get to the hotel we ended up paying a local driver to take us as the hotel wanted around 300baht more and would have waited 30+ min for them to arrive. The TV’s are not smart TV’s so if you have kids not great when they want to relax in the rooms etc. Breakfast is the same daily no real change so gets pretty boring.

Breakfast area is just too small, such a spacious hotel and everyone is crammed into a ridiculously tiny corner.

The pool is large and was green from algae for 2/3 days. Not acceptable. Shower was mouldy and could be better cleaned. The gym is in a sad state with minimal equipment. We sat in the cafe having drinks in the afternoon and they blasted loud music. What a turnoff!

The staff was not very helpful and responsive

Location was right next to the beach and breakfast was also good. There were a lot of shops located right next to the hotel. Sunset at the beach is stunning there.

The tiles around the pool were very hot and slippery

The pool and beach were lovely. My kids loved the slide and the kittens. Free kayaks were good fun when it was not too hot and the hotel is located in a great place close to shops and restaurants and massage parlours. The breakfast was delicious with many options and also the customer service was great. Smooth check in and welcome and we were able to extend our check out too

The front staff seemed annoyed to be doing their job(checking in/out guests). Breakfast was basic quality. I would not eat lunch or dinner here. There is better quality on the beach and up the road.

The room had a bit of a weird smell, but we quickly got used to it (not too big of a deal). The elevator and the pool could be cleaner. The breakfast buffet has limited options.

The resort is really big and has a great beach location just like on the pictues. The room was big, clean and had the softest mattress I've experienced in Thailand which was nice. The breakfast bar has a great morning view. There are a couple of good restaurants and scooter rental places nearby. The staff was really nice and always helpful. The hotel taxi service is cheaper than elsewhere.

We had a great time at Royal Koh Yao Yai. Located right on the beach next to many shops and restaurants and all you need. The bed is super comfortable, the breakfast is excellent and the staff are friendly and helpful.

The gym was basic, there were some running machines and free weights. Maybe they could bring in some benches for use with the weights.

On our arrival, due to my wifes condition, we asked to be moved because of the location of our room, the reception staff were very accommodating and gave us a choice of 2 new rooms on the lower level. The hotel has a beachfront with some beds and umbrellas. There are plenty of bean bag beds to go around if needed to be used on the beach or hotel grounds. The breakfast is good and there is plenty of choice. The upkeep of the hotel is impressive with staff working all hours of the day.

The noodle soup wasn't anything appetising, and the rest of the food was really average for a 5 stars hotel. Coffee & tea was good, but fruit juice was concentrated and diluted with water. No much of choice for patisserie, and fresh fruit very basic.

Not quite as good for a 5 stars hotel, but the personnel serving was very nice.

The Restaurant was disorganised and disjointed - now flow to it . The staff were poorly trained as well and didn’t seem to be aware of what needed doing. This is more to do with poor management rather than poor staff although, not too many Thai Smiles compared to every other place we visited in Thailand! Sending the managers and staff to a 5* hotel might show them what they need to strive to be?

There was hardly any staff. We wanted room service one night as there was a storm, told we couldn’t have it as there was not enough staff. Pool area wasn’t tidied through the day so lots of glasses and rubbish around by the end of the day. This is just a personal thing, but there were lots of children when we stayed, the pool is huge with a slide and kids pool, great for young families, but if you want peace….maybe not the place.

Hotel is right on the beach, the best beach we found on the island. Great restaurants and Gypsy Bar which is perfect for sunset. Great breakfast. Huge pool and a lot of loungers. The room was big and bright and nicely decorated. Good breakfast too. It’s in a little town so plenty of restaurants to walk to and some gorgeous little shops. Make sure you have a roti from the stand on the beach - the best we’ve had so far in Thailand. I recommend getting a moped to explore outside the hotel.

I felt there was an absence of staff training. On other islands where we stayed, staff were more knowledgeable, greeting guests, asking to help, sensing when a need arose, etc. your breakfast staff did not seem confident and knowledgeable.

Bar/restaurant felt expensive. Some good local restaurants but these don't serve alcohol.

Great location and facilities. Get a scooter to explore the island and find some gem beaches. Great breakfast ideL to set you up for day. Helpful staff.
