Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaA fan or window would have been nice for some air flow , it did get stuffy at night.
This was my first hostel and I really enjoyed it. It was very clean and the staff were lovely. They organised day trips and had heaps of info about what to see while in Chiang Mai. The location is great , super easy to the hot spots. I will definitely be back x

IrelandThe staff were so friendly - we felt really looked after during our stay. The room was so comfortable and there was a seven eleven right across the road for when we needed anything. The bathroom was spotlessly clean at all times.

Everythibg is very clean, there is a Panters for guests, free ich popsicles and of course the amazing people who work there that make the stay wonderful. They are extremely helpful and organise any trip for you. I can only recommend staying at Hidden Garden Hostel and hope that we will see each other some time again in the future :)

United KingdomReally nice property. Definitely a chill hostel not a party hostel which is what I wanted, but still a common area to meet other travellers. Aesthetically really nice hostel with pool and rooftop areas. Beds were spacious and comfy. Staff are really friendly and helpful with tour information and local food and drink recommendations. Also a market happens Saturday night right outside the hostel.

IsraelThe hostel is very popular - therefore its hard to book and the dorms are always full. During my stay the AC broke down (the staff took care of it very fast and offered solutions to sleep in different rooms which was very kind of them!) and the room smelled because it was so packed and there is no windows/ventilation - when you have 8 backpackers cramped in one room the result is not always fun, but thats the hostel life honestly so cant say much. Another issue was the pool - the water wasnt very clean and was a little smelly. It’s also pretty small but still a nice addition.
Hidden garden is a very social and nice hostel - theres a lot of young people, attentive staff who will gladly help you with any request, very clean bathrooms that Ive noticed being cleaned multiple times a day, nice location close to the old city, and washing machine/drying machine in the hostel. They also provide water, tea/coffee, fruit etc which was incredible!

ThailandWish I could rate the hostel even higher!!! I felt so lost coming from Bangkok but that vanished straight away after arriving to Chiang Mai & Hidden Garden. My stay was magical especially because of the staff. They are just sweetest group of people. They work so hard, always have a smile on their face, help you with everything & are just genuinely interested in making your stay great & in you as a person. Above that the hostel is very very clean, the rooms are well equipped & the vibe in the hostel is a mix of chill, comfy & social. It’s a good hostel if you want to keep to yourself & have a chill stay but also a good choice if you want to socialize & get to know people. They also offer a ride to the sticky waterfalls where I met such a great group of people who I‘ll continue traveling with. I would recommend Hidden Garden Hostel a 1000000%, hope you‘ll love it just as much 🫶🏼

New ZealandIt may seem like this is a negative review but the below is intended to be constructive. The set of rules that the hostel shows all guests starts by listing all the things you shouldn't do - don't smoke, don't bring other guests etc and then details the fine you will get for each infraction. I get why they do this but it's not a very welcoming first thing to read – better to start with the positive, especially as it's such a chill place. Also – you need a key card to exit the dorm section of the hostel – there's no exit button available. I understand this is a security precaution and apparently, the doors open automatically when the alarm is triggered but I thought that if someone needed to get out quickly and they didn't have their key card on them for whatever reason, that could be very dangerous.
There are many things to like about this hostel – it's in a good location, the staff were very kind and helpful, it's clean and the atmosphere is lovely. The common area is a good space to meet people, chat and hang out and the hostel provides free beverages, snacks and iceblocks. We had a lovely time there.

United KingdomBecause of it being a quiet hostel there is slightly less social activity inside, but this is not a deal breaker - you can still make friends :)
Quite quiet, not a petty hostel so easier to get a good night's sleep - couldn't be closer tov7/11, literally over the road! Friendly and helpful staff, would book again

United KingdomWe absolutely loved our stay here. It was our favourite throughout our time in Thailand. We stayed in a private room and shared bathroom facilities which were lovely. The room we had was close to the road so it was loud but they provided us with earplugs so this didn’t bother us. The staff were so friendly and helpful, we enjoyed chatting with them and met lovely people who were also staying at the hostel. Ideally located and didn’t expect there to be a night market right on the doorstep which was a lovely surprise’
