Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe owners were so sweet and accommodating. The hotel is situated right on the river with amazing views of the water and Laos. The location was perfect, right in town, near many restaurants and a lovely walking path that runs through the whole town. They also provided us bikes so we could ride around the area!

United StatesA couple of stray bugs and a gecko in the room but really not bad. I could feel the springs in the mattress of the bed.
Owner was super kind. We were going on a slow boat along the Mekong and she was able to help us wish the associated forms. View from the window was gorgeous. WiFi was steady.

AustraliaNothing, but there are a large number of roosters around, who crow at any time, not surprising but very noisy if that's an issue.
Room had lovely view over the Mekong to Laos. As in previous reviews the couple who run the property have exceptional English and go out of their way to be helpful and communicative before arrival. In the morning we had an early free breakfast offered of coffee toast and bananas also with an amazing view to help get you on your way to the border crossing. There's also a large collection of international car number plates proudly on display. In front of the hotel is a lovely shared bike/ walking path up the river to the town centre.

United StatesWhen we arrived from the boat the staff was very confused about the reservations so there was a delay getting to the room. The shower is basically spraying onto the toilet because it’s so close

United StatesNice stay overlooking the Mekong River. Hosts were very helpful and accomdating, helped us with our next day trip into Laos with a river cruise provider, giving us the immigration forms to complete in advance. Loaned us a cooler for ice in our room (bought at the store across the street). Told us about a local celebration involving the full moon, and monks at the nearby temple. Good location, good places to eat nearby. Recommended.

NetherlandsRooms could perhaps use some more atmosphere in terms of light or decoration
The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Very nice to chat and they also arranged the boat to Luang Prabang which was an amazing experience. Very much recommended. The hotel is on a very quite nice spot on the water. In town there are mostly Thai tourists which gives it a more calm atmosphere. If you like more hustle and western tourists the Lao side of the border seems better. Was nice to hang around here and relax, could borrow a bike from the hotel to explore the boulevard and some temples. Room was big and nice view from the balcony

United KingdomThe people that run this place are the friendliest and most helpful. They checked our boat booking - we’d booked a boat that usually goes on Sunday and we were travelling on Saturday. It’s was correct but good to know we had it right! They gave us great advice on where to eat, lots of local background and were there waving to us when the boat went by the next morning! A lovely touch. The room was large with a balcony overlooking the river. It’s a basic hotel but everything works well and is nicely done. At 700 bht it’s an absolute bargain!

New ZealandThe bed was a little hard for us, but we still slept well.
The owners were really lovely and so helpful. It was great to have a ground level room, and a balcony with a great view across the Mekong river and sunrise. They provided a light breakfast free of charge, which was very welcome. The room was spacious with non slip tiles in the bathroom. Overall very good value. They also recommended Jam restaurant across the road, which was very good. They ordered us a tuktuk for our bus, which came in about 5 minutes, and we also are thankful to their staff member who checked the room as soon as well left and ran out to tuktuk with my hat!

GermanySince more than 20 years I will stay only at this nice and wonderful hotel, when I am in Chiang Khong. The owners are very lovely and helpful, organize whatever you need to stay comfortable, clean rooms with an astonishing view to the Mekong river and Laos on the other side. A big balcony to enjoy the evening time. 10 out of 10 points 👍 Always happy to stay here for 1 or more nights 👌

NorwayNot the hotel's fault, for sure. But the night time karaoke from the Thai and Laos sides of the river was pretty loud. Not a deal breaker -- everywhere on or near the river will deal with the same. But it's probably a good idea to bring earplugs.
We stayed one night here on our way to Laos. As a budget accommodation in Chiang Khong, the Day Waterfront really can't be beat. It is clean and comfortable, plus it's situated right on the Mekong promenade, which is a great option for an evening walk along the river. The owners are very kind and helpful, there is a balcony overlooking the water, and there are plenty of solid restaurant options nearby.

United KingdomThe bathroom was a bit tired and smelled slightly of drains but was good enough.
The location is lovely, all rooms look out onto the river. Away from the main road so quiet at night and a simple breakfast of hot drinks, fruit and bread is provided. The rooms are very spacious and the aircon worked well. The owners are extremely welcoming. You can see the monks collecting alms along the river bank path in the morning.
