The bed is a bit uncomfortable for western standards. But for a night or two no problem.

Super nice host. The setting was really peaceful and dinner was amazing! It was a bit far off from the Mon village, but for a quiet getaway (like the name suggests) it's almost perfect. Thanks for everything.

This a one of my favourite place in Thailand now, it’s a quiet family owned accommodation, Panit is an amazing host and I had a great stay. I was lucky to come when there was a lot of fireflies at night. The food is amazing !

Panit (the host) was exceptional. He could not have been more helpful. Good to chat to and a really good cook. I only went to Ko Kret for the brewery, but I want to go back just for the hospitality.

A peaceful, relaxing place. A very friendly host. Delicious home cooking. Although close to Bangkok, if you want to get away from the busy city for a bit, this is an excellent place.

We had such a wonderful stay at Cast Away. The hosts welcomed us very warmly into their space and tried to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The meals were large and delicious, and they made sure to ask about any foods we couldn’t eat. This will be my go to spot on Koh Kret!

I liked everything! But a couple of things to note: I was there during the hottest time of the year and the weather truly was HOT! The cabin is not sealed, so the aircon is not as powerful as in some other places, but it was just enough for me during the night. During the day I enjoyed the fact that my little balcony was in shade most of the day, but since there are no cool inside spaces available, it was a bit rough for my weak nothern body :D Luckily in the common outside space there are fans that you can point at the hammock and just lay there waiting for the sun to set :P There is no wifi in the room, only in the common area. Read a book! ;) Also a good thing to note is that on Booking.com this place is listed as an All Inclusive (with three meals per day), but in reality it is Half Board (breakfast and dinner). This was not a problem for me at all as the breakfast was plenty, and I didn't have much appetite during the day because of the heat anyway, but just good to know. There are restaurants and cafés within a biking distance, and you can also store your own food in the common fridge.

This place is out this world, and perfect for someone who doesn't require modern luxuries but instead wants to connect with the nature and themselves. The homecooked food was maybe the best during my 3 month trip in Thailand, I was absolutely blown away by both the quality and the quantity. Hammocks for relaxing in the common outside area. Cute details scattered everywhere. Bikes available for exploring this amazing island (highly recommended!). Wonderful hospitality with the friendliest people, I will miss this place for sure.

Liked absolutely everything about this little gem 💎 outside of Bangkok CBD. The island itself is so peaceful during the week and the host is making sure you got everything you need for your stay. Food offered was delicious and plentiful. Basic bamboo bungalows still have that old Thai style which I absolutely adore. You got bicycles to borrow so you can easy ride around Koh Kret. Definitely will recommend this place for a Bangkok escape or just for your whole stay in Bangkok. It's about 45min drive to CBD from the pier and the lovely host with great English will help you to get across the river with the boat. Will be back 🫶

The location is very pretty and calm, one can see a lot of fireflies in the fields from the terrace of the room. The host is very kind and hospitable. We asked for vegan food, and we were constantly impressed by what we had.

If you’re looking for a place to escape busy bangkok for a few days, this homestay is just perfect. The hospitality of the host and his family is outstanding, very caring and thoughtful. All meals were delicious and I didn’t miss anything. I also got a bike to explore the island, which is the perfect activity to relax. I’d definitely come back again :)

Super friendly family that made my stay awesome because they made me feel like part of their family. Castaway was in a perfect location and if you want to feel traditional Thai village and turn back the time to 40 or 50 years you should come to Castaway Koh Khret.
