Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe location can be confusing as GPS will take you to the old entrance that is a one way street. The location is also developing so be aware.
The property feels like an oasis. It is clean and exceeds the basic needs of a traveler with comfortable beds, soft bedding, air conditioners, overhead fans and HOT water. Towels and soap bars are provided along with a comforter should you need it. Traditional Salvadorian breakfast is served every morning. Lunch and dinner are an additional expense. Excursions can be booked through the owner who is a wealth of knowledge. There is a fridge with a shelf for each room along with book bag storage and lockers. The pool was clean and had plenty of seating for guests.

United StatesI only thing I can think of that I might improve is I wish they had social activities so it would’ve been easier to meet other travelers.
The staff was wonderful. When I got sunburned they went and got me Aloe Vera and lotion which helped a lot. They texted me to check if I needed anything for the room. I felt safe. They were very helpful with directions and recommendations. The guy who runs the place spoke English fluently. The room was large and comfortable.

United StatesVery nice staff! The lovely ladies made an exceptional breakfast every morning! We were able to do the Santa Ana hike organized by casa verse for a fraction of the cost from other tour companies. The room was very comfortable, bed and pillows were cozy. Shower had great pressure and plenty of hot water. The terrace was a great place to watch the sunset. And the pool was always clean and a great place to spend the afternoon. Wifi worked great the entire time we were there. 10 put of 10! Highly recommend

United KingdomI thought the drinks at the hostel could've been slightly cheaper - the same beers were cheaper at a local bar I went to with some other guys than in the hostel itself. That said, if I returned to Santa Ana I would definitely book to stay here again.
The hostel was great - the staff were really friendly and helpful. I loved the breakfast and my room was perfect - cozy and with a really comfortable mattress and pillows. The WiFi worked faultlessly too and was very fast. The water in the shower was also nice and hot. The rooftop was really nice for having a beer and the food I had at the hostel restaurant was also very good quality. The location is perfect, near all the bus stations, making it easy to get to the volcano, San Salvador or Ruta de las Flores.

CanadaEverything was perfect!
This hostal feels more like a small luxury hotel without the high price tag. Carlos, the owner has thought of everything. A beautiful modern room with air-conditioning, a spacious bathroom and fabulous modern rain shower with lots of hot water. Bathroom sink also has hot water, which is rare for many small hotels, Airbnb‘s and hostals in Latin America. The bed is super comfortable, and the pillows are great, again a rarity in Latin America. The hostal has a small restaurant which serves the most delicious and filling breakfast, included in the room rate, and is open in the afternoon. There’s a lovely outdoor lounge area with hammocks and a beautiful little swimming pool. Every room gets their own space in a communal fridge and you can buy water, drinks, and beer without the usual hotel markup. There’s laundry service if you need it and a clothesline to hang your wet bathing suit. The staff is wonderful, very friendly and helpful. I spent a three-day weekend there and it was very quiet. I highly recommend this place if you’re in Santa Ana for the volcano hike or other tours.
