How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewUnique concept. Original design. Exceptional area.
1. No gym. But I worked out outside with whatever was available there. 2. Inconsistent breakfast serving: each morning, the available staff would bring breakfast items (coffee, juice, baguette, yogurt, omelette, sliced fruit, honey, ...) in a different order, with delays in between. 3. Expensive taxi service to and from the airport. A 20 min taxi ride should cost about 2500 CFA, yet the 45-60 min ride to the airport costed 25,000 CFA. However, the airport car was higher quality (bigger, electric windows, newer)... 4. Local using the hotel beach for sitting./exercising/swimming ... 5. Exceptionally dirty shoreline. Lot's of plastic and trash. Likely recent oil spill, too. Muddy ocean. Did not swim at all because of this.

Verified reviewexcellent food, clean private beach under palm trees, free parking, friendly service
air conditioner in one of the two rooms didn't work properly and the hotel had some problems with electricity; however, the hotel management did theit best to solve the issue - so not a big deal for us.

Verified reviewA beautiful hotel -- in the most wonderful location, sand and ocean. We loved the decor and our room was large. We were lulled asleep by the sound of the ocean each night and woke to sunny skies. We will definitely come back. Thank you!

Verified reviewThe lodge is absolutely fabulous. It is full of beautiful details! Pelagie and the team, the breakfast and the restaurant are great! the lodge has the only corner of the beach which is clean!
If you take a walk on the beach, unfortunately the beach around the lodge is extremely dirty. It is very sad but this is a bigger problem that doesn’t concern the lodge..

Verified reviewVery nice design accommodation, you hear the sound of sea. Breakfast is rather simple, however in Senegal above average... Comfortable sleeping.
Dirty public beach in front of the accommodation, hotel staff could make some cleaning.., Overpriced dinners.

Verified reviewStaff were very friendly and helpful. The ocean-facing huts were unique in their design and very charming. Beautiful art and statues all around the property. Excellent views of the beach. Nice restaurant with a few options for dinner and a standard breakfast with good-quality baked goods.
The room wasn't particularly well-sealed, meaning that there were lots of bugs that were able to get into the room. At least in part because of the gaps in the doorframe and windows, the air conditioning, even on full blast, couldn't get the room to a comfortable temperature. There is also nothing much within walking distance (restaurants, shops, etc.), although taxis are readily available.

Verified reviewThe location and the staff were so helpful and it is a great place for a break away from the city. The food was excellent as well and served with care. The long beach is a great place to walk or jog especially as the sun is setting ....
Although the staff clean the beach in front of the lodge every day you do have to be prepared to see a lot of plastic coming in on the waves - it is the way it is at the moment but the staff thanked me every time I helped them pick up bags and bottles.

Verified reviewThe type of room we booked was unavailable because of maintenance/ renovation works, therefore we got an upgrade to a suite 'le chef'. Magnificent, spacious, nicely decorated room with double bathroom!!! The location is excellent, nice and quiet at a perfect beach and at walking distance (+/- 2km, it might be worth taking a calèche ;-)) from the centre. Very pituresque beach environment with kids playing in the sea and exercising on the beach, fishermen working in their pirogues and women selling their handicrafts. The restaurant serves superb food!
Nothing, it was the perfect spot to end our trip through Senegal with some chillaxio in the sand

Rooms could be a bit improved, some of the lights and fan didn’t properly worked. No extra plugs for mobile phones. Mosquito net could be a bit better designed.

Verified reviewWe got to stay in a hotel on the beach within a couple of feet of the sea, the hotel was very funking in its culture style. The surrounding area was the real Senegal with real people. The owner and staff could not have be more accommodating if they tried, (it was natural and not forced on them). No tvs no loud music just the sound of the sea, wind and birds. What more could you want from a holiday.
Can not say we disliked anything.

Verified reviewTama Lodge is on a wonderfully long beach that is great for walking. The site is private and well maintained. The breakfast was delicious as well as other wonderful meals. The rooms are great but the bed a bit hard. There are plenty of lounge areas to enjoy on the property. The owner and staff were very pleasant and helpful.
