Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandThis hotel is showing its age. The room was a bit battered and the foyer makes no attempt to be welcoming or appealing - not even a pot plant. Staff showed no interest in the guests. I would not recommend this hotel for people with accessibility needs - the shower is over a bath - some people like baths, but not easy to access the shower. Also the doors are fairly narrow and heavy.
The Strand hotel is centrally located with lots of interesting things to visit and do in walking distance. Our room was spacious with a good shower, and an opening window. The towels and bedding were good quality. We have stayed in more modern, fancier hotels that do not have these positive features.

MalaysiaNone.
The location is excellent. There are 3 MRT lines within the walking distance. There are many restaurants and even a mall within 10 minutes coverage. 2 convenient stores in 3 minutes' walk.

AustraliaNothing was really a deal breaker, dated furniture in room and bathroom but still very clean.
Excellent location, just next to a MRT station, also National Museum of Singapore. There are plenty of restaurants and the Raffles City Mall all within easy walking distance. The hotel and room were very clean, and the staff were all very helpful. The hotel price would pass as a budget level amount for the location and the fact Singapore has become very expensive. And as a 'budget hotel', whilst very clean, the room was quite dated. There were some amenities, tea and coffee as well as bottled water were provided. For a brief stay, considering the location, well worth staying in this hotel.

PakistanThere was no breakfast on offer. The hotel can improve in offering more facilities.
The location is amazing: Right in front of metro. Wifi was also great! Room size was adequate and a window made it even better. Beds were comfortable as well.

United KingdomThe curtains as the part that covered the window were voile, the heavier fabric ones were just decorative so you could not pull them together at night.
Location, very close to Bencoolen MRT. We had booked a standard twin but received a free upgrade to a superior twin. The room was very spacious and clean. They let us check in early. Staff very helpful. The area next to reception with tea/coffee/water is a nice touch.

MalaysiaOverall, basic necessities are in place and clean ... no real issue. However, it will be great for the hotel to refurbish some of the old furnitures to give it a more classy appearance.

United KingdomAfter a full day of sightseeing, I was hoping to put my feet up and relax in front of the TV… but, to my disappointment and surprise, the ONLY English Channel was a Singaporean news channel. Cable needs to be invested as many English speakers pass through the hotel. Little luxuries go a long way. The bath didn’t retain water so a shower was the only option. No flannels provided.
Location, Location, Location. The hotel is situated directly opposite the MRT station on the main Downtown line - Everywhere is easily accessible. The staff were also very obliging.

United KingdomThe fact that only bath towels were provided and no hand towels. The bed in room 415 was very hard and not at all comfortable to sleep on. The room definitely needed refurbishment and it was tired.
The location was good and convenient for the MRT. The staff were very good and helpful. It was very clean. We had a kettle and safe.
