Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LatviaThe shower could be cleaner.
Well organized hostel. We even got the better room, than we booked, had a good night's sleep. Good breakfast. I had a natural yougurt with pumpkin and flax seeds, ham and cheese. When the weather is nice, you can sit in the courtyard.

The location is really good. The Hostel is clean and comfortable. I had a great nights sleep and it felt very safe. Lovely out door seating spaces. I will certainly be back when next in Gothenburg

FranceThe location was great to visit Gothenburg and the room itself was really fine as well. The bathroom was spacious and clean but the fact that there was only one shower and toilet for the whole corridor is maybe a down point !

AustraliaThis place really wasn’t the cleanest. The showers were quite dirty (drain filled with hair, mould in some of the grout), and there are shared between everyone, so you often had to wait to use them. The kitchen was very small for the amount of people trying to use it, and it was also not the cleanest, but if you’re not needing to cook every meal it worked fine.
The staff were lovely and were very helpful if you had any problems. The location is also fantastic. There is a grocery store a very short walk away, and trams that come every 5 or 10 mins that take you right to the centre of town. It was so easy to go wherever you wanted too and you were never waiting for public transport. There was also a nice courtyard in the middle to sit which was really nice to eat some food in or just chill.

CanadaThe showers were a bit dirty and the main lobby definitely feels "tired". But for the price, it was still good.

IcelandMaybe adding a couple of toilets more would be helpful.
The check in was smooth and clear, with a very kind person at the reception (she was really taking care of everyone not just answering the questions). There is space for bikes inside which is a huge plus and a very nice kitchen and common area. I appreciated that it was not open to visitors as the atmosphere was very cosy and travellers could meet and chat and exchange tips. There is a supermarket close and lots of restaurants.

AustraliaA little walk from the train station, not a deal-breaker though, since there's a tram stop nearby.
The workers are very friendly and helpful. A full-function kitchen is ideal for budget travellers. I would stay longer if I had more time in Gothenburg.

SwedenThe kitchen was small for the amount of people cooking. All our luggage was delayed and it would be great if we could have hired towels to have a shower.
The communal areas were nice and the beds were comfortable. It was clean and well connected to other places.

LithuaniaThe room was much smaller than in the pictures or described. I realized later that it is a huge hostel of 3 buildings, so they have different 4 and 6 bed dorm rooms. Things that could be improved: Doors of the room were very noisy and everybody was waken up in the room at night because of how loud the doors were closing. Pans, pots, plates and cutlery in a kitchen could be of a better quality. Short check-in hours (only until 8 p.m.), but luckily we arrived on Friday, and on weekends they are open for check-in longer.
Room was clean, bed was comfortable with a port for chargers. Generally it was quiet (except the doors and other guests packing in a room). Shower and toilet rooms were available, I had no issue with other people occupying them. Location was also good, because in 8 mins walking distance there were cheaper parking options (5kr/h), supermarket was next to hostel and there were several bars around. It is not far from Haga and about 30 mins walk from city center (there are trams also). Hostel was quite nicely decorated and common room with a TV was pretty cosy.

SpainI would have really liked to rate it higher because of the people who work there. But there are things that should be noted before booking here. Where it says “shared bathroom”, it means really shared… I counted 25 rooms in my area and 4 bathrooms + 1 more for disabled people (each room has at least 4-6 people, so you do the math). There are 3 showers for women and 3 for men+ 1 for the disabled + 1 more. On the shower rooms with 3 showers you don’t have anywhere to put your things that separates from the other showers, so basically anybody inside the shower room can take your things. I used the separate shower room during my stay. Sometimes the bathrooms were quite disgusting. Also, reception is not open at all times (for example, there’s nobody past 17hs on Sunday). You have an emergency phone number in case you need it, but for non emergency things, you’re pretty much on your own. Other than than, it was quite nice.
The staff was helpful and friendly. The location is really good because it’s 5 minutes from the cool street with all the bars and really close to the tram station that takes you anywhere.
