How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBuilding with a lot of history, very good renovation of a jail, rooms are cells so bit small but that is part of the experience, breakfast is really good worth for the extra cost but also there is a shared kitchen with fridge. Location is 10 min walking from the metro to the center. Free parking.

Verified reviewIt is really fun to live in a museum! And the surroundings at Långholmen island was worth the visit itself.
It was a bit to walk to the nearest public transport, but really not that long if the weather was fine.

Verified reviewIts location. It’s a little peaceful enclave in the heart of a city. I loved walking out and having a swimming spot on my doorstep. A nice restaurant on site. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the room was very comfortable.
The room became bright very early. I was grateful for my eyemask.

Verified reviewI loved everything about it. The staff, the room, the breakfast (was amazing!), the location…all of it.
Nothing. If I could change one thing, it would be to have a made bed, instead of just having the sheets on the bed for me to make. They take the prison theme very seriously. 🙂

Verified reviewThe location is nice. The breakfast is excellent.
Be aware that when booking this accommodation it may be a hotel room or a hostel room. Pay attention otherwise you may be penalised financially for not having a towel as not necessarily provided. Also the blind can't be closed while the window is open. So on hot summer nights you can either have a dark hot room or a cooler room with the sun shining in - no fan or AC is available.
Thank you for staying with us! You are correct regarding that there is a difference between staying at the hotel or the hostel. At the hostel you can customize whether you want to bring sheets, towels and breakfast or if you want to buy the service. We often have fans in the hotel reception that we are happy to lend out. Hope you had a great visit in Stockholm!

Verified reviewLangholmen is a tranquil Oasis. It's perfect setting for a getaway. Public transportation and all the amenities that a big city has to offer are a 5 to 8-minute walk away. We will be back
I didn't realize that the facility had a hostel and hotel. The three-person accommodation was a little claustrophobic. The staff were extremely accommodating and we moved to a bunk room that accommodated two people which was perfect for us.

Verified reviewLångholmen Hostel offers a unique experience combined with comfort, friendly atmosphere and a historical setting. My friends and I stayed for four nights, and we were absolutely delighted with our choice for our first trip to Sweden. The entire building is beautifully refurnished while also keeping the original style and historical elements accurate. The rooms are cozy (the 4-beds apartment that we stayed at was quite spacious) and well-equipped. Shared bathrooms and showers were always clean and restocked everyday. We also used the common kitchen to cook bigger dinners and it was also a great experience! We also made use of the common kitchen for bigger dinners, and it was a great experience! The kitchen had everything we needed - plenty of utensils, a large fridge with individual compartments, coffee makers, and even board games for a relaxing night in. One of the highlights of the hostel is the beautiful outdoor area along the shore, with seating and a stunning viewpoint over Stockholm - perfect for a morning coffee or an evening chat. The location is also excellent. It’s well-connected by public transport with about a 10–15 minute walk to Hornstull metro stations well as buses just outside the island. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. They gave us great tips for midsummer activities and really made us feel at home. We also chose to have breakfast at the hotel restaurant twice, and it was fantastic - fresh, with a variety of choices and many alternatives for individual dietary preferences. Overall, I highly recommend Långholmen Hostel for your stay in Stockholm. It’s a special place with character, great facilities, and wonderful people. I’ll definitely be back as soon as possible. 😊
